The Treasure Island scavenger hunt in GreedFall: The Dying World is one of those side quests that sounds simple until the clues start sending you in circles. The reward is not game-breaking, but for the early game it is still a worthwhile pickup, especially if you want a decent weapon before your gear options really open up.
This guide keeps it simple and focuses on where each clue actually leads.
How to Start Treasure Island
You begin the quest by picking up the note on a barrel inside The Fishing Mermaid, the inn on Uxantis.
Once you grab it, the scavenger hunt begins.
Chest 1 Location
The first clue points you toward a place where the sea is loud, gulls are overhead, and you cross using planks and rope before finding an armless body.
What the riddle is really describing is a spot in the Uxantis Countryside.
Look for the coastal area with wooden walkways and rope-built sections. The chest is near the remains of a body missing its arms. Once you find it and dig it up, you get the next clue.
Chest 2 Location
The second clue talks about a former hiding place near where a foreign noble stays, with a hidden inlet or pirate den below.
This one sends you back into Uxantis, near the docks.
A lot of players get thrown off here because companions may comment when you approach the tunnel beneath the foreigners’ house, but that is misleading. The clue is not resolved there. Stay focused on the dockside area and the hidden pirate-style spot nearby rather than trusting the companion callout.
Chest 3 Location
The third clue shifts tone and points to the grave of a fallen comrade, somewhere peaceful and removed from the city, near a sandstone arch.
This chest is back in the Uxantis Countryside.
Head for the quieter burial-area style location near the sandstone formation. The clue is built around regret and remembrance, so think less like a treasure map and more like a gravesite hidden away from the noise of town.
Chest 4 Location
The final clue points to the shore, north of the wild lands, near a split rock beneath the coast.
Once again, you are looking in the Uxantis Countryside.
Search the northern shoreline and look for a rock formation that appears broken or divided. That is the landmark the riddle is using. The final chest is buried nearby.
Reward
Finishing the hunt gives you a sword that is mostly notable for being a nice early-game weapon rather than a long-term carry. Its standout trait is the 20% critical chance, which can be quite useful depending on how you are building your character.
It is not the kind of reward you will still be talking about late in the game, but for the point when you can get it, it is solid enough to justify the scavenger hunt.
Treasure Island is a neat little quest, but the wording on some clues is much more poetic than practical, which makes it easy to overthink. The second clue in particular is the one most likely to waste your time because the companion hint points you the wrong way.
