Not sure this belongs on fasterthoughts because it’s a pretty short-lived Gravel Spell Codex Event in Wizardry Variants Daphne, but here are some thoughts on how to farm this event by shurlogg
Wizardry Variants Daphne Gravel Spell Codex Event Guide
General
It’s important to note that you don’t actually have to do all the event tasks. You need 700 of 1000 points for the final reward, so you can leave 3 tasks unfinished. Personally, I skipped the 300 adventurers and warped ones, because they are much harder to farm than the undead and demihumans (goblins). I also skipped the 300 chests. While farming monsters, it’s not a big issue to open 100 chests and find 300 pieces of junk to reverse. Resting at a well is easy too, so the main thing will be to kill 300 monsters each from two of the four categories (demihumans, undeads, adventurers, and warped ones) with as little effort and as much additional benefits as possible.
Strategies to farm monster kills:
Walk around on a specific abyss floor and kill everything you encounter (use auto battle if you’re strong enough). The main benefit is that with auto-walk and auto-battle, this can be done while doing something else. The downside is that there’s a significant random element in what opponent types you encounter.
Repeat a specific quest with a guaranteed high number of opponents of the desired type. The upside to this is that you can easily track your progress and directly target the type of monster you need. The downside is that it’s extremely repetitive, and depending on the question, you will not find many chests on the way.
Bondmate farming: This is a special case of the repeated quest strategy. If you want to get a bondmate to level 5 that happens to have a quest with a lot of guaranteed monsters of the type you need, you can catch two flies in one trap.
Best farming locations
Abyss 1 B7F: Good for the undead and demihumans, occasional adventurers, and warped ones. Well, for resting quest.
Abyss 1 B8F: Undead, Demihumans, some warped ones, but no adventurers
Abyss 2 Ship Hold: Adventurers and Warped ones, but no demihumans or undead. Chests contain a decent amount of sell-only items (good while the sell-buff event is still active).
Abyss 3 has many undead and a decent number of warped ones, especially in the first few floors, but since opponents are tougher, farming is generally slower than in Abyss 1 or 2. On the upside, you get decent experience and fortress junk.
Abyss 1 B2F has a guaranteed respawning warped one. This isn’t the quickest way to farm, but it’s nice for lower-level players.
Quests with guaranteed numbers of opponents
Abyss 1 B1F: Chris’s Ally Guild Tag Recovery quest has only 3 adventurers, but if you’re leveling up his bond, it adds up. Donato’s Redemption has a 28 guaranteed demihumans and also a bondmate.
Abyss 1 B3F / Goblins cave: The pleading boss goblin is one of the best bondmates in the game and getting him involves killing a lot of demihumans.
Abyss 1 B5F: The Grandchild party rescue quest has 3 guaranteed warped ones and a bondmate
Abyss 1 B6F: The Abyss Heretics quest has a guaranteed 11 adventurers, but no bondmate
Abyss 1 B7F: The March of the Undead quest has a 26 undead and a bondmate
Abyss 2 B1F: Defend my shop from goblins, has 25 demihumans and a bondmate (Donald)
Abyss 2 B5F(?): Retake Stolen Belongings from Robbers has 22 adventurers and a bondmate (Valo).
Abyss 2 Pier: Repel enemy forces has a decent number of warped ones and can be repeated without wheeling if you only do the first two waves. Getting the bondmate requires doing the last wave (which has additional warped ones)
Abyss 2 Ship Hold: The Oarkerpers quest has 4 guaranteed warped ones, and you will likely encounter adventurers and more warped ones along the way. It’s one of the slower ways to farm warped ones, but since Ugo was capped at bondmate level 1 until recently, most players will not have him maxed yet.
Abyss 3 Zone 1: The Poltergeist quest has a decent number of undead and an expensive sellable item as a reward, but that item can only be obtained once, so only do this quest if you haven’t done so before.
Abyss 2 Zone 2: Hans’s request has a lot of warped ones. You can only get the bondmate from your second Abyss 3 run onward.
