If you’ve just started Deskrawl Idle ARPG, one of the first things you’re probably going to wonder is which class is actually worth playing. Warrior, Hunter, Sorcerer, and Monk all have very different playstyles, and because the game is still relatively new, there isn’t exactly a mountain of long-term data telling us which class will dominate later on.
I went through the class skills and progression for all four classes, along with the early community discussion from players who have already been leveling them. The interesting part is that the community doesn’t completely agree. Some players are already calling Hunter or Warrior the best, while others have had a better early experience with Monk. There are also players who think it’s too early to make a serious tier list at all.
So rather than pretending there is one unquestionable answer, this guide looks at damage, AOE farming, survivability, boss potential, and overall progression. That gives us a much better idea of what each class is actually good at.
Deskrawl Idle ARPG Best Classes Tier List (October 2026)
Based on the current skills, class mechanics, and early player feedback, this is how I would currently place the four classes:
| Tier | Class | Main Strength |
|---|---|---|
| S | Warrior | Survivability, AOE, consistent progression |
| A+ | Hunter | Ranged damage and boss DPS |
| A | Monk | Sustain, mobility and balanced combat |
| A- | Sorcerer | Elemental AOE and crowd control |
This isn’t meant to say that an A- class is bad.
In fact, one of the most important points from the community discussion is that there may not be an actual bad class right now. One player specifically argued that none of the four deserved an F tier, while another player had Monk all the way down at F.
That difference alone tells you how early the meta is.
S Tier – Warrior
If I had to choose one class based on the information currently available, Warrior sits at the top of this list because it has the most complete overall toolkit.
Warrior uses Strength and starts with the Woodsman’s Hatchet. Its biggest advantage is that it doesn’t have to sacrifice everything else just to deal damage.
You get strong AOE, single-target attacks, defensive abilities, Mana recovery, crowd control, and several different ways to build around your gear.
The early community discussion already has players pointing toward Warrior.
One player simply said:
“warrior > hunter”
Another player who had leveled both Warrior and Monk to around level 10 said that Monk seemed faster to level initially, but Warrior survived better. They also mentioned trying a Thorns setup on Warrior and finding it particularly strong during the early levels.
That lines up reasonably well with Warrior’s actual skill set.
You have Rage Shield, which creates a barrier based on your Max HP.
You have Earthstrike, which deals heavy AOE damage while stunning enemies.
You also have Iron Thorn, which increases your Thorns and deals damage around you based on your Thorns.
And then there’s Molten Might, which restores Mana while increasing Strong Attack damage and reducing ability costs.
So Warrior isn’t dependent on one gimmick.
It has several different ways to remain effective.
Warrior’s AOE Is a Big Advantage
Warrior gets several good tools for dealing with groups.
Cleave attacks everything in front of you.
Half Moon Slash pierces enemies in its path.
Whirlwind attacks enemies around you.
Earthstrike sends a powerful shockwave through enemies while stunning them.
And later on, Rending Onslaught gives you multiple attacks and Bleed.
That makes Warrior particularly comfortable when you’re farming areas filled with enemies rather than focusing entirely on one target.
Warrior’s Survivability
This is probably the biggest reason I’d put Warrior in S tier overall.
Rage Shield can absorb damage equal to a percentage of your Max HP.
Steady Blow gives you Bulwark stacks.
Iron Thorn rewards a Thorns-oriented setup.
And Warrior naturally fits builds that want to stay in combat instead of constantly relying on avoiding damage.
One player in the discussion specifically mentioned that Warrior survived better than Monk during their early leveling.
For an idle ARPG, that’s important.
If the game is doing much of the fighting automatically, survivability can have a major impact on how far you can push before your character gets overwhelmed.
Warrior’s Weakness
Warrior isn’t necessarily going to be the absolute best at every individual job.
Hunter has a very strong ranged damage toolkit, while Sorcerer can bring some impressive elemental AOE.
But Warrior’s advantage is that it doesn’t have an obvious major hole in its kit.
That’s why I’d currently put it at S tier overall.
A+ Tier – Hunter
Hunter is the class I’d put immediately behind Warrior.
And if you’re specifically interested in ranged damage or boss DPS, there is a very reasonable argument for putting Hunter at the top for those categories.
Hunter uses Dexterity and starts with the Simple Wooden Bow.
The entire class revolves around attacking from range, and it has a ridiculous amount of offensive variety.
Hunter’s Boss Damage Potential
Hunter has several abilities that are clearly designed to pour damage into enemies.
Rapid Fire lets you continuously fire arrows at a target for 2 seconds.
Steady Shot deals heavy piercing damage.
Venom Bolt combines Poison damage with an explosion.
And Twin Arrows can hit two enemies or put both arrows into a single target when only one enemy is available.
That gives Hunter a very flexible ranged damage kit.
The community discussion reflects this as well.
One player simply described:
“Venomancer is op”
While another community tier list placed Hunter at S and Warrior at A.
Those opinions shouldn’t be treated as definitive evidence, but they do show that players are already noticing Hunter’s offensive potential.
Hunter Has Excellent Ranged Utility
Hunter isn’t only about raw damage.
You also have Flare, which applies Vulnerable to nearby enemies.
Shockwave knocks enemies backward and guarantees a Short Stun.
Poison Trap applies two stacks of Poisoned.
And Frost Trap deals heavy Cold damage while guaranteeing Deep Freeze.
That gives Hunter plenty of ways to control enemies while staying at range.
Phantom Form Is Very Interesting
At level 40, Hunter gets Phantom Form.
For several seconds, it provides:
- 15% Dodge Chance
- 50% Attack Speed
That is a very strong combination for a ranged DPS class.
You’re getting more offensive speed while also gaining some additional survivability through Dodge.
This is one of the reasons Hunter has such a high ceiling once you start looking at later-game builds.
Hunter’s Weakness
The main issue is that Hunter doesn’t have the same obvious defensive comfort as Warrior.
If enemies get through your ranged attacks and start overwhelming you, you have to rely more heavily on things such as Shockwave, Frost Trap, Dodge, and positioning.
That may matter more as the content becomes harder.
So I’d currently put Hunter at A+ overall, with the potential to be particularly strong for players focused on ranged and boss damage.
A Tier – Monk
Monk is probably the hardest class to place based on the current discussion.
One player simply said they were playing Monk, while another player who tested Monk and Warrior at around level 10 felt that Monk leveled faster but Warrior survived better.
Then another community member later posted a tier list that put Monk at F.
But another detailed post rated Monk A for Boss DPS, A for AOE/Farming, and S for Deep Push/Survival.
That’s a huge difference.
So I wouldn’t take the F-tier comment seriously as a universal conclusion.
The class’s actual kit is much more interesting than that.
Monk Has Excellent Sustain
Monk uses Dexterity and starts with the Leather-Wrapped Quarterstaff.
One of its biggest advantages is self-sustain.
Spirit Stream heals 11% of Max Health every second for 4 seconds, increasing to 20% per second at level 10.
That means the level 10 version can restore up to 80% of your Max Health if the full effect runs.
Then you have Chi Bolt, which restores 5% of your Max Health every third bolt.
So Monk has multiple ways to recover health while fighting.
Monk Rewards Continuous Attacking
This is where Monk becomes particularly interesting.
Threefold Strike gets a stronger finisher every third attack.
Seismic Strike creates an AOE shockwave every third attack.
Chi Bolt restores health every third bolt.
And Furious Fist builds Attack Speed, with each strike granting another 5% up to 20 stacks.
That means Monk isn’t simply about hitting the enemy as hard as possible with one button.
The class rewards maintaining a rhythm.
Spirit Twin Could Be a Major Damage Tool
At level 30, Monk unlocks Spirit Twin.
You summon a spirit that mirrors your Basic and Strong Attacks for several seconds.
That’s potentially very powerful because you’re essentially adding another source of your attacks during the Spirit Twin window.
Combine that with Monk’s other offensive abilities and you have a class with plenty of room for scaling.
Monk’s Defensive Options
Monk also has:
Wind Steps — 30% Dodge Chance for several seconds.
Charge — closes the distance and stuns nearby enemies.
Divine Thunder — deals large AOE Lightning damage and leaves enemies Dazed.
So Monk has both sustain and defensive control.
The main reason I wouldn’t put it in S tier right now is that we simply don’t have enough long-term player data to confidently say how all of these mechanics scale into harder content.
For now, A tier feels like the safest placement.
A- Tier – Sorcerer
Sorcerer is the easiest class to underestimate.
It may not look as durable as Warrior or as straightforwardly powerful as Hunter, but its elemental toolkit gives it some very strong options for AOE and crowd control.
Sorcerer uses Intelligence and starts with the Hooked Bronze Staff.
The class revolves around Fire, Frost, and Lightning.
Sorcerer’s AOE Is Excellent
Sorcerer has plenty of ways to damage groups.
Fire Ball explodes on impact.
Flame Breath damages enemies in a line and applies Burning.
Ice Meteor creates a damaging Frost field.
Lightning Storm strikes three random enemies.
Fire Meteor deals a massive 400% weapon damage to enemies caught in its blast.
And Lightning Cloud repeatedly strikes enemies around its target.
For pure group destruction, Sorcerer has a lot going for it.
This also lines up with the more detailed community assessment that placed Sorcerer in S for AOE/Farming, despite putting it lower for boss DPS and deep pushing.
Sorcerer Has Fantastic Crowd Control
The Frost side of Sorcerer gives it some very useful control.
Ice Nova freezes enemies around you.
Ice Meteor creates a chilling field.
Frost Beam continuously damages enemies in its path.
And Ice Block makes the Sorcerer completely immune to damage for several seconds.
That last ability is particularly important.
Ice Block makes you unable to act while active, but you’re also immune to all damage.
So Sorcerer does have a defensive emergency button — it just works differently from Warrior’s shield or Monk’s healing.
Fire Meteor Is a Serious Burst Tool
At level 30, Fire Meteor deals 400% weapon damage to every enemy caught in its blast and also applies Burning.
At level 10, the damage increases to 490%.
That’s a huge AOE burst.
Then at level 40, Flame Aura gives you 10% Critical Hit Chance and 50% Critical Hit Damage for 5 seconds.
So Sorcerer can create some very noticeable burst windows.
Why Sorcerer Isn’t Higher Overall
The main issue is consistency.
A class can have incredible AOE without necessarily being the best class for every part of the game.
The current community discussion reflects this uncertainty. One player ranked Sorcerer as B, while the more detailed role-based list put it at A- overall.
For now, I’d keep Sorcerer at A-, while noting that it could become much more interesting if elemental scaling and endgame builds turn out to be particularly strong.
Deskrawl Class Tier List by Role
An overall ranking doesn’t tell the whole story.
The more useful way to look at these four classes is to separate them by what they’re actually trying to accomplish.
Boss DPS
| Tier | Classes |
|---|---|
| S | Hunter, Warrior |
| A | Monk |
| B | Sorcerer |
Hunter has a very strong single-target toolkit, particularly with Rapid Fire and its ranged damage options.
Warrior also has powerful single-target attacks while being much harder to overwhelm.
Monk has strong burst and Spirit Twin, but its long-term scaling is less established.
Sorcerer has strong burst abilities, but much of its toolkit is better suited to AOE.
AOE and Farming
| Tier | Classes |
|---|---|
| S | Warrior, Sorcerer |
| A | Monk |
| B | Hunter |
This is where Warrior and Sorcerer really stand out.
Warrior has Cleave, Whirlwind, Earthstrike, and other AOE attacks.
Sorcerer has Fire Ball, Flame Breath, Ice Meteor, Fire Meteor, Lightning Storm, and Lightning Cloud.
Monk has plenty of AOE as well, but it isn’t quite as obviously specialized toward clearing large groups.
Hunter has AOE options, but its kit leans more heavily toward ranged single-target damage and controlled encounters.
Deep Push and Survival
| Tier | Classes |
|---|---|
| S | Warrior, Monk |
| A | Hunter |
| B | Sorcerer |
This is probably the most interesting category.
Warrior has shields, defensive mechanics, Thorns, and strong AOE control.
Monk has healing, Dodge Chance, stuns, and other sustain tools.
Hunter has Dodge, knockback, traps, and range to keep enemies away.
Sorcerer has Ice Block and several control abilities, but its overall defensive toolkit isn’t quite as consistently focused on surviving prolonged pressure.
Overall Deskrawl Class Ranking
Putting everything together:
S Tier – Warrior
Warrior currently has the most complete package.
It can deal damage, clear groups, survive heavy pressure, stun enemies, generate and spend Mana effectively, and support multiple different builds.
A+ Tier – Hunter
Hunter has an excellent ranged toolkit and potentially very strong boss damage.
If you prefer fighting from a distance, its ranking becomes particularly relevant.
A Tier – Monk
Monk has great sustain and a very interesting attack rhythm.
It may also become much stronger once players understand its scaling and endgame builds better.
A- Tier – Sorcerer
Sorcerer has fantastic AOE and elemental control, but its overall performance appears more specialized compared with Warrior and Hunter.
That doesn’t make it a bad class at all.
So Which Deskrawl Class Should You Pick?
This is where I’d avoid blindly following a tier list.
The community discussion itself shows why.
One player said Warrior > Hunter.
Another said Venomancer was overpowered.
One player who tested Monk and Warrior preferred Monk for leveling speed but Warrior for survival.
Another player posted:
Monk F / Sorc B / Warrior A / Hunter S.
Then another player who had been comparing the classes using game information and simulations came back with a completely different role-based list:
Boss DPS: Hunter / Warrior at S
AOE/Farming: Warrior / Sorcerer at S
Deep Push/Survival: Warrior / Monk at S
Overall: Warrior S, Hunter A+, Monk A, Sorcerer A-
That disagreement is actually useful information.
It tells us that there isn’t enough evidence yet to treat one community tier list as fact.
