Inspired by the Frankenstein archetype, Victor brings a unique playstyle built around self-damage, regeneration, and reanimation. Deadlock Victor Guide – Abilities, Lore, and Build Ideas

Victor’s Abilities

Victor’s kit is all about trading his own health for damage and utility. Think of him as a bruiser who constantly dances on the edge of danger.

1. Pain Battery

  • Passive: Taking damage charges Victor’s battery.
  • Active: Once full, he unleashes a frontal zap, dealing spirit damage to all enemies in an arc.
  • Upgrades:
    • Adds a 40% slow for 2 seconds.
    • Heals 20% of missing health on hit.

This ability rewards Victor for staying in the fight and soaking up damage. When upgraded, it doubles as both sustain and crowd control.

2. Jump Start

  • Victor deals spirit damage to himself, then gains:
    • Bonus movement speed (decays over time).
    • Bonus regeneration.
  • Upgrades: Can purge non-ultimate debuffs, lower cooldown, and increase regen.

This skill works as both an escape and an engage. Use it to reposition, chase kills, or recover after trading.

3. Aura of Suffering

  • Victor toggles an aura that deals spirit damage over time to both enemies and himself.
  • The damage ramps up the longer it’s active.
  • Upgrades:
    • Applies a slow to enemies inside.
    • Increases minimum and maximum DPS.
    • Reduces enemy spirit resistance by 13%.

This is Victor’s signature ability. When built properly, Aura of Suffering turns him into a walking hazard, shredding enemies while burning his own health pool. Combined with healing or lifesteal, he becomes nearly unstoppable.

4. Shocking Reanimation (Ultimate)

  • When Victor takes lethal damage, he automatically reanimates with:
    • 100% health restored.
    • A burst of AoE spirit damage.
    • Stuns nearby enemies.
  • Cooldown: ~160 seconds (can be reduced with upgrades).
  • Upgrades: Provide bonus fire rate, extra spirit damage per bullet, reduced cooldown, and added AoE damage.

This ult makes Victor incredibly hard to kill. Even if enemies manage to bring him down, he comes back immediately—often turning the fight in his favor. It forces opponents to think twice before diving him.

Lore – The Frankenstein of Deadlock

Victor’s backstory leans heavily into the Frankenstein mythos.

  • He woke up on a mortuary table, stitched together from unknown parts.
  • With no memory of his creator or purpose, he searches the Five Burrows for answers.
  • His design reflects his lore: throwing his arm as a melee attack, crawling with brute force, and embodying a tragic, stitched-together survivor.

This lore ties perfectly into his gameplay, where self-harm and rebirth define his style.

Best Builds for Victor

Victor’s kit clearly points to health-focused and sustain-heavy builds. You want to maximize his ability to burn himself while staying alive long enough to punish enemies.

Core Build Path

  1. Vitality/Health Items – Stack HP to survive the self-inflicted damage.
  2. Spirit Lifesteal – Offsets his Aura of Suffering drain and keeps him in fights longer.
  3. Colossus – A strong late-game option to push his durability even further.
  4. Lightning Scroll (situational) – Great synergy with his ult and aura, allowing him to chain stuns.

Playstyle Tips

  • Early Game: Focus on farming with his aura toggled carefully. Don’t over-drain yourself.
  • Mid Game: Use Jump Start to dive or escape. Pair Aura of Suffering with Pain Battery to force enemies back.
  • Team Fights: Dive into the center, activate Aura, and force opponents to commit. If they kill you, Shocking Reanimation punishes them with stuns and fresh health.

Victor thrives in scrappy brawls where enemies underestimate his sustain and forget he has a free second life.

Victor is one of the most unique heroes in Deadlock’s roster. His risk-reward mechanics make him fun for aggressive players who like playing on the edge. He can punish misplays, force enemy cooldowns, and flip team fights with his ultimate.

  • If you enjoy tanky disruptors like Dr. Mundo or Amumu from League of Legends, Victor will feel right at home.
  • He’s beginner-friendly thanks to his durability, but also has high build flexibility for veterans.
  • Expect him to slot into the meta as a bruiser-tank hybrid with insane late-game impact.
