Dark Deity 2 Class Guide & Tier List
Adepts
Adepts in Dark Deity 2 are fast enough to double early encounters and tanky enough to survive a round, making them reliable all-rounders with solid Tier 2 and 3 class options.
Tier 2:
Gale (D): Extremely fragile with low strength, requiring too much support to be worth it. Best used for setting up kills rather than direct damage.
Conduit (B): Chain Lightning makes it a strong backline attacker, but the Defibrillator skill stunning allies keeps it from a higher rating.
Frigillan (B): Excellent battlefield control with Icy Spire, but low fortitude makes it vulnerable to magic.
Monk (A): Hands down the best choice—good defenses, strong attacks, great speed, and Charged Ki is arguably the best buff in the game.
Tier 3:
Tempest (F): High speed but unreliable dodging and weak damage make it a poor investment.
Stormkeeper (A): Top-tier Adept with mobility, a powerful AoE nuke, and solid survivability.
Godfrost (B): Strong tank but expensive to sustain. Works best with a Scholar mana battery.
Ascendant (B): Similar stats to Monk but less survivability. Divine Flow is strong but costly, requiring full investment to make it manageable.
Combos:
Monk + Stormkeeper: Charged Ki combined with Stormkeeper’s passive creates an excellent damage and survivability loop.
Frigillan + Stormkeeper: Trades damage for extra bulk, making Stormkeeper tougher.
Ascendant + Heir Ring + Skill Upgrades: Reduces Astral Flow’s mana cost, making it a much stronger defensive tool. Thanks Twigz11 for this combo!
Conduit/Stormkeeper + Radiant Ring: Mass blind debuff helps control enemies you can’t outright kill. Thanks Twigz11 and ic1025 for this combo!
Monk + Tempest: Charge Ki synergizes with Tempest’s passive, improving speed and crit potential. Thanks ic1025 for this combo!
Hunters
Hunters in Dark Deity 2 are locked to two-range until promotion, making them great for setting up kills on Player Phase. However, low HP means even a couple of stray hits can be fatal. Fortunately, their Tier 1 classes are all solid, with three fantastic options and one that is still serviceable.
Tier 2:
Ranger (C): Good defenses and decent skills, but high mana costs and delayed debuffs hold it back.
Cutthroat (A): High speed, solid strength, and Licky Lasso is one of the best repositioning tools in the game.
Tamer (B): Slower but tankier, with Call the Pride providing excellent team-wide defense.
Quickdraw (C): Reliable doubles, but being Player Phase-locked makes positioning difficult.
Tier 3:
Warden (D): Tanky but lacks speed and dexterity, making it unreliable. Summons are great but too expensive to spam.
Slayer (A): Best speed and dexterity, 1-2 range, and a passive that allows extra attacks. Strong abilities make it a top-tier pick.
Beastmaster (A): High utility with AoE snare, 1-2 range, and strong survival tools, though weaker in direct combat.
Deadeye (C): Reliable double strikes and blind debuff, but struggles against high-defense enemies.
Combos:
Cutthroat + Beastmaster: The ultimate repositioning combo—Licky Lasso every turn without mana issues, while Cutthroat’s stats patch up Beastmaster’s weaknesses.
Slayer + Ferocity: More attacks mean more procs for Slayer’s passive—turning your unit into a relentless attacker. Thanks to Roltair for testing!
Any Hunter with 2+ range abilities + Archmage Ring: Range boosts impact Hunters the most, making abilities like Cackling Hyenas, Command Wyvern, and Spanky Lanky even stronger. Thanks to ic1025 for the tip!
Shamans
Shamans in Dark Deity 2 are sturdy healers with excellent promotion options. They can take a hit, restore allies, and adapt to various playstyles, making them a core part of any team.
Tier 2:
Juggernaut (B): A straightforward but effective tank-healer combo. Just don’t expect it to survive being surrounded.
Waveseer (A): Gains 1-2 range but loses defense and power. Whirlpool is an excellent lockdown tool but requires careful placement.
Elementalist (A): Trades defense for versatility, with Ice Shield for buffs and Flame Strike for heavy damage.
Ritualist (D):* Wants to heal by fighting but is too fragile for frontline combat. Has niche utility with the right setup (see Combos).
Tier 3:
Dreadnought (B): An immovable tank that always hits its target, making it the best non-dodge tank in the game.
Tidecaller (A): The best Shaman. Discounts all abilities, grants an extra turn, provides the best heal, and has strong speed without awful defenses.
Spirit Keeper (B): Good abilities like Spirit Bomb for AoE damage and Resurrection for reviving allies, though overall combat is just okay.
Hemomancer (D):* Relies on low HP to deal damage but has mediocre stats. Its minion ability is clunky, but with the right setup, it can be surprisingly strong (see Combos).
Combos:
Ritualist/Hemomancer + Plague Ring + Ferocity weapon enchantment: This setup enables massive healing by applying Bloodied stacks before attacking. A great investment for Khamari, allowing him to become a durable tank with solid self-healing. Spirit Keeper and Dreadnought are alternative Tier 3 choices for more team utility or survivability. Thanks to Twigz11 for refining this combo!
Waveseer + Spirit Keeper: Cheap Spirit Bomb spam that can also heal allies, making it a fantastic AoE tool. Waveseer also fixes Spirit Keeper’s low speed.
Spirit Keeper + Radiant Ring: Boosts Spirit Bomb’s effectiveness by adding AoE blind, making groups of enemies nearly useless. Thanks to ic1025 for the insight!
Summoners
Summoners in Dark Deity 2 are incredibly powerful thanks to strong starting characters like Arthur and Alden. Arthur, in particular, serves as a free player-phase nuke, making other nukers feel redundant.
Tier 2:
Geomancer (A): Gains healing and utility movement skills. Starsurge is a useful tool for positioning and damaging enemies.
Warlock (C): A debuffer with AoE utility, but not exceptional.
Aegis (C): Turns your Summoner into a tank with strong defenses but weak offenses and a restrictive 1-range attack.
Scholar (A): Offers game-changing utility with Phase and Ancient Writ, making it a fantastic support class.
Tier 3:
Cosmician (A): The best nuking class in the game. Massive Mastery growth and passive buffs make its abilities devastating, but it won’t survive enemy phase well.
Necromancer (A): The best support class, with strong mana regeneration, solid minions, and a good self-healing ability.
Relic Keeper (D): Cool aesthetic, but high mana costs and low speed make it ineffective.
Loremaster (B): Good speed and team-oriented passive, though its abilities aren’t game-changing.
Combos:
Geomancer + Necromancer: A complete package of healing, repositioning, minions, and mana sustain. A strong all-around choice for an Adept.
Scholar + Cosmician: A flexible build that can support allies or obliterate enemies, but lacks durability.
Vanguards
Vanguards serve as default frontline tanks but have diverse promotion paths, making them adaptable.
Tier 2:
Devoted (B): Balanced stats and good abilities, but the passive isn’t reliable.
Nightblade (A): Dodge tanking at its best. Good speed and poison debuffs make it consistently useful.
Seeker (B): Turns into a 2-range-only unit, but Enchant Weapon ensures strong attacks. Essential for high-difficulty runs.
Gallant (C): A bulkier Vanguard that buffs allies. Loses Speed, Fortitude, and Dexterity, making it a tradeoff.
Tier 3:
Reaper (B): High crit potential with Teleport utility, but crits aren’t always reliable.
Ancarant (B): The best dodge tank path, with a great passive, strong speed/dexterity, and emergency healing.
Elisant (B): A long-range sniper with useful accuracy buffs, great for higher difficulties.
Champion (C): Stronger post-update but still more of a player-phase attacker than a true tank.
Combos:
Nightblade + any Tier 3: Nightblade’s passive and speed buffs make it great for any advanced class.
Gallant + Elisant: Provides accuracy buffs, repositioning, and long-range damage. Mana management is key.
Seeker + Champion + Ferocity Weapon Enchantment: Maximizes damage output with Enchant Weapon and Ferocity, though it’s vulnerable to magic attacks.
Devoted + Champion: Enables constant Spinning Blades usage while providing some defense against enemy attacks.
