Like everything else in Critter Cove, cooking requires a bit of exploration and experimentation. This Critter Cove Recipes List – Food & Cooking Guide has some tips and spoilers if you need a bit of help to get started. Read as little or as much as you need. If you need more details than highlighted here, take a look at the Critter Cove Recipes List – Food & Cooking Guide
Critter Cove Recipes List – Food & Cooking Guide
After you arrive at Critter Cove, you’ll soon be running around exploring the island. You might see some surprising things, like what looks to be drumsticks growing on vines. (We’re all critters here! How else do you expect us to find meat?) Harvest them and any berries growing on bushes that you see. Chop, dismantle, and retrieve floating boxes from the water. Foodstuffs could be anywhere!
Food Buffs
As you explore, look at your status bars. The top red bar represents your health (or hit points), and the yellow bar represents your stamina (or energy).
If you see these decrease, you can boost them by eating food. When you start swimming and diving, you will see additional bars indicating your oxygen levels (blue) or air tank reserves (green). Some foods also boost your oxygen levels, so look for that too. After you make the recipes, just look at their icons to see their listed buffs. Some foods give you unique buffs, like being able to talk to crabs!
Early in the game, you’ll learn to handcraft a Campfire, which lets you cook anything that requires only one ingredient. That’s enough to heal a bit and boost your energy. As you progress, you’ll learn how to craft the Cooking Station and Oven too.
You don’t start knowing any cooking recipes because you can experiment by adding food items to see what you might discover. If you’re successful, your learn the recipe, which you can remake whenever you’d like. If you’re not, you end up with a lot of Slop. (By the way, no one likes Slop, which reduces your health if you eat it. Good news, though, because you can sell it to shops like Renard.)
Critter Cove Recipes List 2024
One Ingredient Recipes
You can make many of these recipes right away using your campfire. You can cook them using the cooking station or oven as you progress. Some recipes require you to explore or complete quests on other islands before you find the ingredients. But put those Drumstick Stalks and Blush Berries
to work right away.
• Jam – 1x any fruit
• Grilled Meat – 1x any meat
• Grilled fish – 1x any fish
• Fried Egg – 1x egg
• Candy – 1x sugar
• Grilled Veggies – 1x vegetable
Special One Ingredient Recipes
You can find these resources in the boxes floating in the ocean around your island, as you travel around the map, and when you encounter shipwrecks. You can also make these resources using one ingredient, but you’ll have to explore other islands to find new fruits and vegetables before making them
yourself.
• Salt – 1x salty crop (Jellaloon)
• Flour – 1x Tatordrake
• Sugar – 1x sweet crop (Poconut)
• Spice – 1x spicy crop (Dragonfruit, Pitcher Plant)
Types of Ingredients
Before diving deeper into cooking for more sophisticated tastes, let’s review a few essential details about cooking in Critter Cove. Everything you can eat has icons on them that indicate their food type, which could be:
• Fruit
• Vegetable
• Spicy
• Salty
• Sweet
• Meat
• Fish
• Unknown
This includes the food you find, the food you grow, and the recipes you cook. As you learn recipes, you see the icons indicating either specific items (such as Flour) or a generic icon such as a fish, which can be any fish. This is important because a recipe might ask for salty food, but you should add a salty food you harvested or grew (referred to as a crop in the recipes described here whenever there might be confusion.), not one of the cooked foods in the same category.
Luckily, the game is smart enough only to let you select valid items for a known recipe. (You’re free to make a lot of Slop while experimenting!)
Crops and Other Collected Food Items
You can collect seeds or create them with the Recycler to grow many crops, but you can only get some edibles from exploring. As of Early Access,
