- All Knowing – Unlocks all blueprints from the beginning.
- Infinite Bowels/Bladder – Removes the need for these functions, meaning no fertilizer loss but a much easier experience.

A completely blank character plays on hard mode. If you’re looking for a smoother experience, try these traits:
- Light Eyes – Extends vision past normal darkness hours.

- Feral – Less affected by filth, making wellbeing easier to manage.
- Physical – Gains wellbeing from physical activities.
- Creative – Gains wellbeing from creative activities.
- Optimistic – Helps maintain morale.
Random Tips & Tricks
- Repairing Clothing – Reed clothes require reeds; hide/leather clothing needs a threaded needle. Can be done in the dark!
- Leather Processing – Wash tannins off in the river before placing leather on the stretching rack.
- Efficient Fuel Usage – One charcoal in an oven lasts through a nap while drying items.
- Backpacks – You can attach a rope to a basket (feature currently disabled).
- Weapon Selection Memory – The game remembers your last used weapon and will auto-equip it if still available.
- Fishing Bait – Lasts long in baskets; can be made from near-spoiled meat and used for both fishing and trapping.
- Fur Mittens – Reduce precision task efficiency by 15 minutes.
- Acorn Harvesting – Best collected in early autumn; scarce in late autumn.
Daylight Hours & Exploration
The available daylight varies by season:
- Spring: 6:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Summer: 4:00 AM – 10:00 PM
- Autumn: 6:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Winter: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Key Notes:
- Movement along the river is possible even in darkness.
- The “Light Eyes” trait extends visibility and delays nightfall.
Hunting & Fishing
Fishing
- No longer a primary survival skill as in CS:TI.
- Success depends on location, time of day, and season.
- On the starting tile, ~30% skill is needed for moderate success.
Hunting
Essential for survival, requiring both weapon proficiency and tracking skills.
Food spoilage warning – Avoid hunting large animals (e.g., stag, boar) until you have proper food preservation like ovens or smokehouses.
Weapons & Combat Moves:
- Spear “Brace” – Counter charging animals; can also hit fleeing ones.
- Spear “Poke” – Best for small to mid-sized animals (squirrels, badgers, foxes).
- Spear “Throw” – Effective against Partridges.
Tracking Skill
Determines what details appear when inspecting tracks.
Initially, tracking feels useless, but skill improves by chasing fleeing animals in encounters.
Higher levels reveal:
- Track age
- Animal size
- Direction of movement
Boosting Tracking Skill:
- Spirit blessings (e.g., Fox Blessing) enhance tracking efficiency.
How to Hunt Efficiently
- Early game strategy – Explore and forage; animals will run into you naturally.
- Chase animals – Even if unsuccessful, this improves your tracking skill.
- Use the map – Check the animal territory guide. Example: Foxes appear in Green Tangle after 8:00 PM.
Beware of aggressive animals:
- Boars – Spawn after a 5-day grace period, roaming the southern map.
- Stags – Usually non-aggressive but will attack in autumn (mating season).
- Deer – Found in northern regions.
Winter Survival – Stay Warm or Die!
Winter is harsh and preparation is essential.
Basic Winter Prep:
- Food: Grow turnroots & fireroot before summer ends – they last long even without drying.
- Clothing: At minimum, complete Basic Leather Clothing before autumn ends.
- Shelter: Build a hut with an oven inside to retain heat and dry food.
- Herbs: Store Appleweed (vitamins/immunity) and Frostleaf (for wounds).
Frost Injuries
- Below 50% body temp → Frostnip (injury) → Requires cleaning.
- Prolonged exposure → Frostbite (worse pain, slow healing).
Keeping Warm – Key Tips
- Prioritize Clothing – Leatherworking is crucial.
- Leather Bottleneck – Hunt deer early; Shady Bank camp or log traps baited with meadowgrass help.
- Hut Upgrades – Get earthen floors, doors, and a fireplace for warmth.
- Fur Scarcity – Foxes (before winter) or wolves (during winter) are your best sources.
- Fire Enchantments – Use on clothing for free warmth.
Food & Resources in Winter
- Fibers – Nettles die in winter; stock up early.
- Crops – Harvest before winter; fireroot may last into the season.
- Water & Ice Fishing – Break river ice with a rock to access water & fish.
- Hunting – Deer are still around; wolves appear in packs (dangerous).
- Acorns – Store raw to extend shelf life; turning into flour resets spoilage.
- Mud/Dirt – Collect dirt from the river and mix with water to make mud.
Snow Mechanics
- Snow Accumulation – Check the snow meter.
- Deep Snow → Movement time increases to 45 mins.
- Shoveling does not reduce snow depth.
- Snow melts slowly → Expect lingering snow in early spring.
Health, Sickness & Weight Management
Staying Healthy
- Eat regularly & diversify intake to maintain immune system & weight.
- Use plates/bread to combine multiple foods and improve taste (boosts wellbeing).
- No pre-made recipes – Mix ingredients for optimal nutrition.
Weight Management Factors
- Losing Weight: Exercise, cold weather, fever, wounds, parasites.
- Gaining Weight: Consuming high-calorie foods (meat, fat, bread).
