Bomb Farm Beginner Guide – Heroes, Gear, Skills

Bomb Farm is a new free-to-play idle RPG that launched on August 28, 2026, so there is still a lot we are figuring out about the game. If you have just started playing, you might be wondering how the bomber system works, which heroes you should focus on, what to upgrade first, and how the different currencies and gear systems fit together. In this post, we will go through the important basics you need to know when starting Bomb Farm.

The main idea of the game is pretty simple: you build a squad of bombers, send them into stages, and let them destroy rocks, crates, and other obstacles to earn resources. The game continues to work while you’re away, so you don’t need to sit there manually controlling everything all day. At the same time, there are plenty of RPG systems underneath that idle gameplay, including hero roles, rarity, gear, forging, skills, and progression.

Since Bomb Farm is still very new, I wouldn’t treat every early strategy as a permanent meta. The community is still discovering the best farming methods and team combinations. For now, I’ll explain what we know, what you should prioritize as a beginner, and a few things I would personally keep in mind while building your account.

Bomb Farm Beginner Guide – Heroes, Gear, Skills

Bomb Farm is a free-to-play idle RPG built around a squad of bombers.

Your heroes automatically destroy props such as rocks, crates, and other obstacles inside stages. Doing this generates gold, materials, gear, and other resources that help you continue progressing.

If you’ve played other idle farming games, the basic idea should feel familiar pretty quickly. You send your squad into the mine, let them do their work, check back later, upgrade your team, and then send them back out.

The game also adds traditional RPG mechanics on top of the idle system.

You have different hero roles, individual abilities, gear that can be forged and upgraded, a large skill tree, multiple difficulties, and even a Steam Community Market where certain drops can be traded.

The main gameplay loop revolves around destroying props and using the resources you earn to make your squad stronger.

Your bombers automatically clear objects throughout each stage, allowing you to earn resources without constantly controlling every action.

This is important to understand because you shouldn’t feel like you have to watch the game every second.

The whole point of the idle system is to let your team continue working while you’re away.

Using Multiple Teams

You can maintain three separate teams and rotate between them.

As you progress, you can eventually field up to nine heroes at the same time.

This makes your team-building choices increasingly important as you get deeper into the game.

Destroying props is also a major part of long-term progression. The game tracks milestones for destroying huge numbers of objects, including achievements for breaking 1,000 props and eventually 50,000.

So don’t think of destroying rocks and crates as something you’ll stop doing after the early game. It remains an important part of your progression.

Don’t Overplay the Idle System

My biggest beginner tip here is simple: don’t feel like you need to constantly micromanage the game.

Check your squads, make your upgrades, adjust your setup when necessary, and then let your bombers do their job.

The more developed your account becomes, the more important it is to let the idle farming system work for you.

Bomb Farm Bonus Code

If you’re starting Bomb Farm on a new account, there is currently a referral/bonus code worth knowing about.

Code: F-LMV2PBF9

According to the supplied guide, new players who enter the code and then clear Stage 151 can receive:

  • 10,000,000 Gold
  • 1x Hero Cage (Normal)
  • 50 Crystals

This is a personal referral code rather than an official developer promotion, so keep in mind that reward conditions can change.

How to Redeem the Bomb Farm Code

Finding the code section isn’t necessarily obvious when you first start, so here’s where you need to go:

  1. Open the Store menu.
  2. Look for the small gift/bag icon at the top of the Store screen.
  3. Select the Welcome tab from the left sidebar.
  4. Enter F-LMV2PBF9 into the code box.
  5. Press Accept.
  6. Continue playing until you clear Stage 151.

If you’re eligible, the rewards should be paid out automatically after meeting the requirement.

Because these systems are generally designed for new accounts, don’t expect the code to work repeatedly on the same account.

Bomb Farm Heroes and Roles

Heroes are the foundation of your squad, and you’ll want to understand their roles before spending too many resources on upgrades.

There are four main hero roles:

  • Attacker – Focuses on dealing damage.
  • Support – Provides buffs and utility for the rest of your squad.
  • Collector – Focuses on gathering resources and improving farming efficiency.
  • Specialist – Provides more situational or hybrid abilities.

There are currently 20 unique hero abilities, and individual abilities can be upgraded from level 1 through level 10.

Heroes themselves can be leveled up to 500.

Hero Duplicates and Stars

Duplicates aren’t useless in Bomb Farm.

Copies of a hero can be fed into the game’s ritual system to increase that hero’s star level.

Heroes can be pushed up to 3 stars, making duplicate copies an important part of long-term progression.

Hero Rarity

Heroes have five rarity levels, with Legendary and the extremely rare Mythic sitting at the top of the rarity system.

There is also a Home building associated with each rarity.

There are five Home buildings in total, one for each rarity, and each can be leveled up to level 20.

Best Way to Build Your Early Squad

I wouldn’t recommend spreading your upgrade materials across every hero you unlock.

Instead, choose the heroes you actually plan to use and focus your resources on them.

Since you can eventually field nine heroes, building toward a nine-hero roster makes sense, but you should also pay attention to your team composition.

Having one or two Collectors can be especially useful because farming efficiency is a major part of Bomb Farm.

Bomb Farm Gear System

Gear is another major part of your progression.

Gear comes from sealed drops that you reveal, and it has two separate progression systems.

The first is the item’s own level.

The second is the forge upgrade applied afterward.

Gear Item Levels

The item itself can have a level determined by the drop.

According to the supplied information, the item level can go as high as 300.

Gear Forge Upgrades

Once you have a piece of gear, you can upgrade it at the anvil.

Forge upgrades range from:

+0 to +15

This is where you need to be careful.

Gear Upgrade Risk

+8 is considered the safe limit.

Upgrades from +0 through +8 are treated as relatively low-risk.

Once you go beyond +8, things become much more dangerous.

Upgrades from +9 through +15 are explicitly presented as risky, and even the achievement for reaching +15 refers to surviving the odds.

Because of that, I wouldn’t immediately throw your best piece of gear into high-risk upgrades.

Save up materials and gold first.

If you’re going to gamble on +9 and beyond, it’s much better to do it when you have spare equipment or enough resources to recover from a bad result.

Gear Rarity and Fusion

Gear also has its own rarity system that reaches Mythic.

Duplicate gear can be fused to increase its star level, similar to the way duplicate heroes are used.

So don’t automatically assume every duplicate piece is worthless.

Bomb Farm Skill Tree

Bomb Farm features a huge skill tree that has been compared to the large node webs seen in games such as Path of Exile.

The important difference is that these skill tree bonuses apply to your whole squad, rather than being limited to a single hero.

That makes your first skill points particularly important.

Best First Skill Tree Priorities

It can be tempting to immediately spend your points on damage.

I would resist that temptation early on.

Because Bomb Farm is an idle game, improving your economy can have a much bigger long-term effect.

Your squad will be farming resources while you’re away, so an improvement to your gold or resource generation can continue benefiting you across countless stages.

A general priority for your early skill points is:

  1. Gold gain and resource-related nodes
  2. Collector-related bonuses
  3. General clear-speed bonuses
  4. Combat and survivability bonuses

The exact names and locations of nodes can depend on how your skill tree branches, so don’t treat this as a single fixed route that everyone must follow.

The general idea is what matters:

Build your economy first, then strengthen your combat performance.

As the community gets deeper into the game, more optimized skill paths should become easier to identify.

Bomb Farm Stages and Difficulties

The campaign is divided into five worlds and five difficulties.

The difficulty progression is:

  • Easy
  • Normal
  • Hard
  • Very Hard
  • Inferno

There are 600 stages in total.

The final campaign objective is clearing Stage 600 on Inferno.

That might sound intimidating when you’re just starting, but obviously you aren’t expected to reach it immediately.

Focus on progressing through the stages you’re currently capable of clearing and improve your squad when you hit a wall.

Timer Gates

One mechanic you should be aware of is the timed clear requirement.

Timer gates start appearing around Stage 10, so you may eventually reach a point where your team has enough survivability but simply isn’t clearing the stage quickly enough.

If you’re suddenly stuck on a stage that previously felt easy, check your clear speed.

You may need better gear, stronger heroes, or more damage rather than simply more defensive stats.

Don’t Rush Difficulty

I wouldn’t rush into the next difficulty just because you’ve started finding Easy slow.

Higher difficulties increase the challenge, and entering them without enough gear or squad strength can simply give you another progression wall.

It’s usually better to make sure your current team is properly developed before pushing too far ahead.

Bomb Farm Currencies

There are several different resources you’ll encounter as you progress.

Gold

Gold is one of your main currencies.

You’ll use it throughout your progression, and the game even has a milestone for earning a lifetime total of 10 million Gold.

Don’t worry if that number looks huge when you’re starting. Your gold income will grow considerably as your farming setup improves.

Crystals

Crystals are a more valuable resource used for rarer progression and unlocks.

Because they’re less common than basic resources, I’d avoid spending them without knowing what you’re getting in return.

Gemstone Materials

You can also collect various gemstone materials, including:

  • Citrine
  • Emerald
  • Sapphire
  • Aquamarine

There are additional materials as well.

Even if you don’t immediately know what a particular material is used for, I recommend holding onto it rather than throwing it away or spending it blindly.

Keys

Keys are obtained through stage progression and are used to open chests.

Early community feedback has suggested that key drop rates can sometimes feel inconsistent, particularly after launch.

Since Bomb Farm is still new, these systems may be adjusted in future updates.

Special Chest

There is also a separate Special Chest designed to store items such as:

  • Hero Cages
  • Chests
  • Time Chests
  • Keys

This can help keep these items from filling up your normal inventory.

If you’re collecting a lot of these items, remember to check the Special Chest rather than assuming everything needs to remain in your main inventory.

Bomb Farm is still in its very early days, which makes this an interesting time to start playing. There isn’t a completely settled farming meta yet, and players are still working out the best hero combinations, skill tree routes, gear strategies, and market values.

For now, I would focus on the fundamentals. Build a reliable squad, include useful Collectors, improve your resource generation, invest in gear carefully, and don’t waste your materials trying to force progression too quickly.

The biggest thing to remember is that Bomb Farm is an idle game. Your goal isn’t to constantly sit in front of the screen. Build your farming engine, let your squad work, come back later, collect your resources, upgrade your team, and push a little further.

As the community learns more about the game, the optimal skill tree paths, team compositions, farming strategies, and market values will become much clearer. Until then, experiment, see what works for you, and enjoy the early days of Bomb Farm.
