Fishing in Blue Protocol Star Resonance (BPSR) becomes available after completing the main story quest “Fireworks Fantasy Night.”
Once done, a new quest titled “Invitation from the Fishing Guild” becomes available. Head to Asterleeds, north of the Celestine Plaza teleport, and speak to the Fishing Guild Member to begin. She provides your starter gear:
- Regular Fishing Pole
- x5 Beginner’s Bait
Your first task is to catch an Asterscad at Yacht Harbor. Approaching the water triggers a tutorial that introduces the fishing mechanics. After catching the Asterscad, return to the Fishing Guild Member to complete the quest and receive:
- x5 Regular Bait
- x5 Precise Bait
- x300 Luno (Bound)
- x30,000 Adventurer EXP
With that, fishing is fully unlocked, and you can freely fish across Asterleeds and Asteria Plains.
How to Fish
Fishing involves a few simple but interactive mechanics:
Finding a Spot
Fishing Spots are scattered across lakes and harbors. When you find one, cast your line so the bobber floats on the surface.
When something bites, the bobber dips briefly before a [!] indicator appears — signaling it’s time to reel.
Line Tension Bar
Once a fish is hooked, you’ll enter the “tug-of-war” phase. Hold the left mouse button to reel the fish in. Align your Fishing Pole’s direction (left, center, or right) to match the fish’s movements.
Keep an eye on your line tension bar — if it stays full too long, the line will snap, and the fish will get away.
Progress Bar
When the pole direction matches the fish’s movement, continue reeling to fill the progress bar.
Once the fish icon reaches the far left of the bar, the catch is complete.
Success earns you fish, items, or sometimes ocean trash (depending on bait type and area).
Importance and Usage
Fishing is technically a side activity, but its integration with other systems makes it valuable. Here’s where fishing connects:
Life Skills Integration
- Culinary: Fish and Scallops are key cooking ingredients, granting food buffs of various rarities. These meals can be sold at the Trading Center for Luno (Unbound).
- Alchemy: Scallops, obtainable from the Seafood Store or through Botany, are used to craft Chitin Fiber, a Homestead crafting material.
- Botany: At Botany Lv. 2, you can gather certain fish species without using Focus, such as Tris Sea Fish and Pale Blue Fish, which yield Raw Fish Meat for cooking recipes.
Guild Features
- Guild Freight: Fish often appear on the daily cargo submission list. Submitting them grants Luno (Unbound) and boosts guild progress.
- Guild Buff: The Production Blessing from the Boon Fountain increases the number of fish caught by +1 for 24 hours.
Season Hub
Fishing contributes to Season Pass Activity Merits, helping you earn Season Points and Adventurer EXP passively.
Ocean Garbage Recycling
Fishing often yields ocean trash. These can be exchanged at the Ocean Garbage Recycler in Asterleeds for Luno (Bound) — perfect for clearing inventory space.
Seafood Store
Managed by Johanna, the Seafood Store in Asterleeds sells:
- Scallops
- Fish Meat
- Asterscad
Each with a daily limit of x60 purchases.
Baits
Bait determines what you catch. They can be bought or crafted via the Culinary Life Skill. Better bait means better catches and fewer trash items.
| Bait Type | Unlock Condition | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Regular Bait | Default / Culinary Lv. 1 | Catches fish and trash |
| Precise Bait | Fishing/Culinary Lv. 5 | Excludes trash, catches fish only |
| Special Bait | Fishing Lv. 14 / Culinary Lv. 10 | Used for Mythical fish |
Bait is not lost if your line snaps during a failed attempt.
5. Fishing Poles
Fishing Poles can be purchased with Luno (Bound) at any fishing spot’s shop (accessed via the V key).
| Pole | Unlock | Features |
|---|---|---|
| Regular Fishing Pole | Lv. 1 | May randomly break, basic stats |
| Sturdy Fishing Pole | Lv. 8 | No random break chance, faster reeling |
| Flexible Fishing Pole | Lv. 15 | Slight random break chance, slower tension gain |
Poles lose durability over time:
- Common fish / trash: -2 durability
- Rare fish: -5 durability
Once durability hits 0, the pole breaks. Higher-tier poles offer more durability and stability overall.
Fishing Menu
Access your full fishing interface from any Fishing Spot. It contains three main sections:
Fishing Archive
A record of every fish you’ve caught, including:
- Rarity
- Size Range
- Star Rating
- Best Size Recorded
Fish are categorized as:
- City Harbor Fish (Asterleeds)
- Fresh Water Fish (Asteria Plains inland)
- Sea Water Fish (Asteria outer coast)
Fishing Research
Each fish species can be researched up to Lv. 5. Donating duplicates boosts its research level, unlocking special effects that slightly improve catch chances.
Fishing Profile
Your personal record displaying:
- Total catches
- Favorite fishing location
- Most caught fish
- Mythical fish count
You can even share this via chat using the share button in your profile tab.
Fish Rankings
The Fish Ranking Leaderboard ranks players based on fish size.
Each species has two ranking types:
- World Ranking – compared globally
- Guild Ranking – among guild members only
Bigger fish earn higher leaderboard placement.
Fishing Milestone Rewards
Leveling up your Fishing grants rewards even though it’s not a Life Skill. The cap is Lv. 20.
Rewards include:
- Shark Doll Accessory
- Emote: Drying Fish I
- Rose Orb (Bound)
- Fishing Poles & Bait
- Fisherman Badge for your profile
Hidden Quest
You can start a secret fishing quest by talking to Amos at Asterleeds Beach Pier.
Amos tells you a short story but needs a Night Lamp to finish it. He hints that you can fish one up “by the sea.”
Use Regular Bait only (since higher baits exclude trash) and keep fishing near him until you catch the Night Lamp (classified as ocean trash).
Return it to Amos to complete the quest and receive:
- x120,000 Adventurer EXP
- x600 Luno (Bound)
- x50 Asteria Reputation
