Whether you have just created your first character or are trying to figure out what to do after reaching Level 10, this Beyond Nen beginner guide will help you understand the progression system and get started properly.
Beyond Nen Beginner Guide – How to Get Nen, Level Up
When you first enter Beyond Nen, select your character slot and head to the customization screen. Here, you can change your character’s appearance, including outfits, hair, eyes, and mouth.
However, appearance isn’t the only important part of character creation. You can also roll for three important things: your race, lineage, and Nen affinity.
All Races in Beyond Nen
There are currently five races available in the game:
- Human
- Rabbit
- Cat
- Cyborg
- Celestial
Each race provides different bonuses, so your choice can affect your character’s build. Celestial is particularly rare, with only a 1% drop chance.
If you want to understand which race is worth keeping, check the race tier list before spending your spins.
What Are Lineages?
Lineages work similarly to clans in other Roblox games. They provide passive buffs and, depending on the lineage, special abilities that can improve your character.
For example, the Kurta lineage can unlock an eye-awakening feature. Other lineages provide different passive bonuses that can help with combat, movement, farming, or progression.
Since lineage perks can have a major impact on your build, check what your current lineage offers before deciding whether to reroll.
All Five Nen Affinities
Your Nen affinity determines which category of Nen abilities you can obtain. There are five main affinity categories:
- Transmutation
- Conjuration
- Enhancement
- Manipulation
- Emission
Your affinity and ability are connected. For example, if you roll Transmutation, you can only obtain abilities belonging to the Transmutation category.
Some examples of Transmutation abilities include:
- Godspeed
- Rising Sun
- Earth Sludge
This means you should understand your affinity before deciding which abilities you want to unlock. You cannot simply choose any ability regardless of your rolled category.
Complete the Tutorial First
After finishing character customization, enter the game and complete the tutorial.
I recommend doing this even if you are already familiar with Roblox fighting games because the tutorial introduces the basic mechanics and controls.
You will need to defeat the tutorial boss to finish this section. Completing it can also reward you with extra spins and a chest.
The tutorial rewards mentioned here include a Legendary Chest and additional spins, making it worthwhile to complete before starting your regular progression.
Once the tutorial is finished, you can begin following the main quests.
How to Level Up Fast in Beyond Nen
Your first major goal should be reaching Level 10. This is an important milestone because it allows you to begin the next part of your Nen progression.
The easiest way to level up early is by following the starter quests and completing missions from the quest board.
Follow the Starter Quests
When you first enter the game, follow the main quest markers on your screen.
These quests introduce the basic progression systems and guide you toward important locations. Some new quests and objectives may appear as you progress, so make sure you track them instead of ignoring them.
Continue completing the starter missions until you reach the mission board.
Farm Mission Board Quests
Once you unlock the quest board, this should become your main source of early XP.
Accept the available missions and follow their markers to the required locations. Most of these quests involve defeating NPCs.
After completing a mission, return to the quest NPC to claim your rewards.
One useful feature is that some missions allow you to repeat them directly through the dialogue after completion. This means you do not always need to travel back to the quest board every time you want to farm the same mission.
You can stay in one location, defeat the required enemies, and repeat the quest to earn more XP.
My recommendation: Focus on repeating mission board quests until you reach Level 10. This is one of the simplest ways to progress through the early game.
How to Get Your First Weapon
While completing your early quests, you will eventually receive a mission that allows you to choose your first weapon.
There are two starter options:
- Sword
- Bat
Choose whichever weapon you prefer. These are beginner weapons, so you do not need to spend too much time worrying about which one is perfect.
As you progress, you will start obtaining schematics for stronger equipment, including items such as gauntlets and sniper weapons.
However, you will need the correct crafting materials before you can make those weapons.
Equip Your Weapon and Save Your Stats
After obtaining your starter weapon, open your inventory and equip it.
Each weapon has its own skills, which are automatically unlocked when you obtain the weapon.
If you plan to use a particular weapon as your main fighting style, make sure you save your stat points for the relevant weapon build.
Avoid spending all your points without considering which type of combat you want to focus on.
How to Get Nen in Beyond Nen
Unlocking Nen is one of the most important parts of your progression. Once you have Nen, you can start unlocking Nen techniques and abilities through the Skill Tree.
There are three methods mentioned for obtaining Nen in Beyond Nen:
- Complete the Hunter Exams.
- Talk to all seven Node Masters.
- Have another Nen user open all your Aura Nodes.
Let’s look at each method.
Method 1 – Complete the Hunter Exams
The first method is to pass the Hunter Exams.
Once you reach Level 10, you should receive information about the Hunter Exams. You can also check the main menu for the exam option.
According to the current schedule described here, the Hunter Exams open every four hours.
Complete the exam to obtain your Hunter License and progress toward unlocking Nen.

Method 2 – Find All Seven Node Masters
The second method involves talking to all seven Node Masters.
These NPCs spawn every 45 minutes. When they appear, the game displays a notification on your screen.
Watch for this notification and make sure you visit the Node Masters when they spawn.
This is another way to progress toward obtaining Nen without relying entirely on the Hunter Exams.
Method 3 – Have Another Nen User Open Your Aura Nodes
The third method involves another player who already has Nen.
A Nen user can use their own Nen to open all your Aura Nodes at once.
However, this method comes with a chance to obtain a special talent called Way of Nen.
The chance mentioned for this talent is 3%, so it is a risky method if you are specifically trying to obtain it.
You can visit Shin at the relevant location and speak with him to arrange the Aura Node process.
How to Unlock Nen Through Meditation
After starting the Nen progression with Rohan, continue speaking with him and follow his instructions.
Eventually, he will ask you to meditate.
To do this, you need to purchase a Meditation Mat from the merchant in the starter village.
Buy the Meditation Mat
Return to the village and visit the merchant.
Open the shop, scroll through the available items, and purchase the Meditation Mat.
Once you have it, open your inventory and equip it.
How Meditation Works
Place your Meditation Mat on the ground and interact with it to begin meditating.
During meditation, different keys will appear on your screen. Press the displayed keys to complete the activity.
Keep repeating this process to earn Meditation EXP.
Meditation is important because it helps you progress through the Nen Technique skill tree. Some techniques require a specific amount of meditation experience before you can unlock them.
Complete Rohan’s Training
After gaining the required meditation progress, return to the Nen Cave and speak with Rohan again.
Follow his remaining dialogue and instructions.
Once you complete the training, you will officially unlock Nen.
Congratulations! You can now begin learning Nen techniques and working toward your affinity-specific abilities.
How to Unlock Nen Skills and Abilities
After obtaining Nen, you will gain access to additional progression options in your Skill Tree.
Press M on your keyboard and open the Skill Tree.
You will find different sections, including Nen Skills, Nen Ability, and Nen Techniques.
Each section serves a different purpose, so it is important to understand how they work.
Nen Ability Skill Tree
The Nen Ability section is where you unlock the abilities associated with your affinity.
However, you cannot purchase every ability immediately. Each one has its own requirements.
For example, an ability may require a certain amount of Nen points and specific mastery levels.
Make sure you read the requirements before spending your skill points.
How to Unlock Mastery Requirements
Some Nen abilities require you to unlock specific masteries first.
For example, an ability might require:
- Mission Mastery 2
- Transmutation Mastery 4
To unlock these, return to the Skill Tree and open the Nen Skills section.
Find the mastery category required by your ability and spend your available skill points to unlock it.
You may need quite a few skill points for higher mastery levels, so be prepared to spend time progressing through the skill tree.
Once you meet all the requirements, return to the Nen Ability section and unlock your desired ability.
Nen Skills and Affinity Skills
The Nen Skills section also contains different upgrades and skills that support your Nen build.
You should prioritize the skills related to your main affinity.
For example, if your affinity is Transmutation, focus on the relevant Transmutation mastery and skills instead of randomly spending points across unrelated categories.

How to Unlock More Nen Techniques
Besides your main Nen ability, you can also unlock additional Nen techniques.
Open the Skill Tree and select the Nen Technique section.

Should You Unlock Combat Styles?
Beyond Nen also has a Combat Styles section in the Skill Tree.
