Barn Finds have always been one of the best parts of the Forza Horizon 6 series, but FH6 changes the system in a way that catches a lot of players off guard. Unlike older Horizon games where Barn Finds unlocked naturally through progression or festival levels, this time they are heavily tied to exploration and your Discover Japan journal progression.
Because of that, many players end up driving straight past hidden barns without being able to claim them, which makes the whole system feel confusing at first. After spending time unlocking them myself and comparing different player progress routes, it’s clear that understanding the Discover Japan system is the real key to finding every hidden car in the game.
This guide explains exactly how Barn Finds unlock, how to search for them efficiently, and where all 15 Barn Finds are located across Japan.
All 15 Barn Finds in Forza Horizon 6 (Locations & Unlock)
In previous Horizon games, Barn Finds were mostly tied to story progress or festival wristbands. FH6 completely changes that formula.
This time, Barn Finds are connected to your Discover Japan collection journal. Every time you earn new exploration stamps, more barns gradually become available on the map.
That means your progression is tied much more closely to exploration activities instead of pure racing progression.
You can earn Discover Japan stamps through activities like:
- Street Racing events
- Touge Battle races
- Smashing regional mascots
- Taking photos
- Food delivery missions
- Collecting vehicles
- General exploration activities
To fully unlock all 15 Barn Finds, you need all 7 Discover Japan stamps and the Master Explorer rank, which is the Gold tier in the journal system.
One important thing many players misunderstand is that physically discovering a barn early does not let you claim the car immediately. If the required stamp progression is missing, the game simply will not activate the Barn Find.
So if you stumble upon an empty-looking barn, don’t waste time trying to force the unlock. Continue progressing your Discover Japan journal first.
Tips for Finding Barns Faster
Once a Barn Find becomes active, the game highlights the search area with a translucent purple circle on the map. The barn itself is hidden somewhere inside that zone, but the exact location is never marked immediately.
A good rule to remember is that nearly every Barn Find sits beside an unmarked dirt path or gravel trail. If you feel lost inside the search circle, stop following the main road and start checking small off-road routes instead.
One of the best tools for Barn hunting is the ANNA Drone. You can access it from the pause menu, and honestly, it makes searching dramatically easier. Since the drone ignores terrain and moves faster than most cars, you can quickly scan forests, fields, and mountains without constantly crashing through obstacles.
As soon as you fly close enough to the barn, the exact location gets permanently marked on your map.
Also remember that Barn Find vehicles are not added to your garage immediately. After discovery, the car enters restoration, and you’ll need to wait some in-game time before it becomes drivable.
And yes, the Treasure Map DLC reveals all Barn Finds instantly, but honestly, exploring the map yourself is half the fun.
All 15 Barn Find Locations
1. Honda NSX-R GT
Region: Ohtani
This is one of the easier Barn Finds once the unlock becomes active. Head west of the “Super Hot Hatch Cars B” Festival Sprint event. If the barn still hasn’t appeared, start from Mei’s house and travel northwest instead.
The barn sits tucked between winding paved roads and dirt trails, making it slightly hidden from direct road view.
2. Toyota 2000GT
Region: Ito
You’ll find this barn near the center of the Ito region, positioned close to the coastline. The surrounding scenery honestly makes this one of the most memorable Barn Finds in the game.
The Toyota 2000GT is also one of the most iconic classic Japanese sports cars featured in FH6, so it’s definitely worth grabbing early.
3. Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500
Region: Ito
This barn is located east of Tokyo City near a major road intersection. Compared to many other Barn Finds, this one is surprisingly accessible and sits fairly close to the roadside.
You probably won’t struggle much with this search area.
4. Nissan PAO
Region: Minamino
Head to the western side of Minamino and begin driving north from the Cedar Run Street Racing event.
You’ll eventually reach a bend in the dirt road near the Edamame mascot location. Turn right there and continue carefully because the small road leading to the barn does not properly appear on the minimap.
This hidden route is easy to miss if you’re driving too quickly.
5. Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R
Region: Nangan
This Barn Find is located near the northeast side of the large lake in Nangan.
Fans of classic Japanese cars will immediately recognize this legendary Skyline. It’s basically the original Godzilla and one of the most satisfying Barn Finds in the game for longtime Nissan fans.
6. Lincoln Continental
Region: Hokubu
Travel south of the Flower Run Speed Trap until you reach the Shikisai-No-Oka flower field landmark.
The barn is located nearby, surrounded by the colorful scenery. This particular car also has story significance connected to Mei, which makes the discovery feel more meaningful than some of the other Barn Finds.
7. Porsche 911 Turbo 3.3
Region: Ohtani
This barn sits near the bottom section of Ohtani surrounded by dense trees.
Because of the foliage and terrain, it’s very easy to drive past without noticing it. Search carefully between the dirt road and the nearby main highway instead of sticking to one side.
8. Peugeot 205 Turbo 16
Region: Shimanoyama
You’ll find this barn in the northwest area of Shimanoyama.
Search slightly off the main track within the northeastern portion of the purple search zone. The location feels deceptively open, which sometimes makes players overlook the actual entrance path.
9. Nissan #23 Pennzoil NISMO Skyline GT-R
Region: Takashiro
Start from the used car dealer and head directly east uphill.
The barn becomes visible fairly quickly once you gain elevation. This location also sits relatively close to one of the Treasure Car areas, so you may end up discovering both while exploring.
10. Nissan R390 GT1
Region: Ohtani
Travel toward the southwest corner of the region and follow the off-road trail westward.
Keep checking the right side of the path as you drive because the barn is partially hidden from direct view.
11. Lamborghini Diablo SV
Region: Ito
This is one of the more confusing Barn Finds because the lower coastal road looks like the correct approach route, but it actually leads nowhere.
Instead, head east from the Unlimited Offroad Yahikoyama Cross Country event or travel northeast from Ito Airfield. The barn sits in a forest clearing created by logging activity.
Once you approach from the proper direction, the path becomes much easier to follow.
12. Mitsubishi Montero Evolution
Region: Shimanoyama
Start from the Bandai Azuma Skyline Drift Zone and drive directly east toward the Mount Fuji View Danger Sign.
The barn sits in the middle eastern area of the region and is easier to locate if you cut across terrain instead of following the roads normally.
13. Mitsubishi #1 Lancer Evolution Time Attack
Region: Shimanoyama
This barn is located in the northernmost settlement of the region.
Unlike many other Barn Finds, this one is surprisingly visible once you reach the correct elevation. The barn rests above the cliff overlooking the town below.
Approaching from off-road terrain usually works best.
14. Nissan #11 Tomica Skyline Turbo Super Silhouette
Region: Ito
Head north from Ito Airfield and search for a dirt road leading into the forest.
The entrance is subtle and easy to miss if you stay focused on the paved roads. Once you enter the wooded section, the barn becomes much easier to spot.
15. Mazda #55 787B
Region: Takashiro
The final Barn Find sits inside a large forest in central Takashiro.
You can approach it from several landmarks:
- North of the Tea Farm Speed Zone
- North of the Cropfields Speed Trap
- West of Hirosaki Castle
This area is heavily wooded, so using the ANNA Drone here saves a huge amount of time.
The Barn Find system in Forza Horizon 6 is definitely more exploration-focused than previous Horizon titles, and honestly, that makes the discoveries feel much more rewarding.
Instead of simply unlocking cars through race progression, the game pushes you to actually interact with the world, complete side activities, and explore hidden roads across Japan. Some barns are incredibly easy to locate, while others can turn into long searches if you don’t know the correct approach path.
Once you start understanding how Discover Japan progression works, though, the entire system becomes much smoother and far less confusing.
