Starting your adventure in Monster Hunter Outlanders with a strong character can make your early progression much easier. Since this is a gacha game, you’ll have to rely on recruitment to obtain certain Adventurers, and getting a powerful SSR character early can save you plenty of time and resources later.
If you’re planning to reroll your account, I recommend going for Midori first. She’s a launch-limited Adventurer with excellent damage potential, and her Fire-focused playstyle makes her one of the strongest characters to have on your team. However, getting her isn’t guaranteed, so you’ll need to decide how many attempts you’re willing to make.
In this guide, I’ll explain which characters are worth rerolling for, which ones you can skip, how to reroll your account step by step, and what recruitment rates you should know before starting. I’ll also cover a few alternative characters worth keeping if you don’t manage to get Midori.
Monster Hunter Outlanders Reroll Guide – Best Unit to Reroll
Yes, rerolling can be worth it if you have some extra time and want a strong start. However, I wouldn’t recommend spending hours trying to get the perfect account.
One reroll attempt takes approximately 25–30 minutes, which is quite long compared to many other gacha games. You’ll need to progress through the early missions before recruitment becomes available, so repeating the same process can get tiring.
My recommendation is simple: aim for Midori, but don’t ignore other powerful SSR characters. If you manage to obtain Arkaya, Pepper, Keres, or Rhodes, I’d consider keeping that account instead of starting everything over again.
Midori is especially valuable because she’s only available through her Featured Recruitment during her launch banner. If you miss that opportunity, you’ll need to wait for another chance to obtain her.
Best Characters to Reroll For
Before starting your reroll attempts, you should know which characters are actually worth your time. Not every SSR is equally valuable, and some characters are much easier to obtain later through normal progression.
Here are the Adventurers I would prioritize.
1. Midori – Best Character to Reroll For
SSR | Assault | Fire | S Tier
Recruitment: Launch Featured Recruitment
If there’s one character I would recommend rerolling for, it’s Midori. She’s a powerful Fire damage dealer and one of the strongest Adventurers currently available.
Midori uses a Fire Long Sword and focuses on dodging and counterattacking. Her combat style rewards good timing, allowing you to avoid incoming attacks and punish monsters with powerful counterattacks.
Her damage potential is particularly impressive against monsters weak to Fire. In these situations, she can even outperform the Fated Adventurer regardless of which weapon they’re using.
The biggest reason to prioritize Midori is her limited availability. She’s tied to her launch Featured Recruitment, making this a particularly important opportunity if you want to add her to your collection.
Why you should reroll for Midori:
-
Excellent Fire damage potential.
-
Powerful dodge and counterattack mechanics.
-
Performs exceptionally well against Fire-weak monsters.
-
One of the strongest damage dealers in the current character lineup.
-
Limited recruitment availability.
My recommendation: If you have enough patience to repeat the early game, aim for Midori. She’s the character I would choose over almost every other reroll option.
2. Arkaya – Best Support Character
SSR | Support | A Tier
Recruitment: Standard availability
Arkaya is another excellent character to obtain during your reroll attempts, especially if you don’t manage to get Midori.
His biggest advantage is his ability to provide shields for the entire squad. These shields improve your team’s survivability and can make difficult monster encounters much easier.
He also provides an Affinity buff through his Ultimate, giving your teammates additional offensive value.
What makes Arkaya particularly useful is his flexibility. You don’t need to build a specific elemental team around him to benefit from his abilities. He can fit into almost any composition.
His first duplicate is also particularly valuable, making him an even more attractive option if you’re lucky enough to obtain additional copies.
Why you should reroll for Arkaya:
-
Provides useful squad-wide shields.
-
Ultimate grants an Affinity buff.
-
Fits into different team compositions.
-
Offers both defensive and offensive support.
-
His first duplicate provides additional value.
My recommendation: Arkaya is an excellent alternative to Midori. If you get him early, I would seriously consider keeping the account rather than repeating another 25–30-minute run.
Also Good Reroll Characters
If you don’t get Midori or Arkaya, there are a few other SSR Adventurers worth keeping. They might not be your first choices, but they can still provide plenty of value throughout the game.
3. Pepper
SSR | Disruptor | S Tier
Best For: Ranged damage and monster control
Pepper is a strong option if you prefer ranged combat. Her playstyle revolves around airborne combos that allow her to deal damage while avoiding certain enemy attacks.
Her Ultimate is particularly useful because it can Paralyze monsters, creating opportunities for the rest of your squad to attack.
She also provides an Affinity buff for the team, so she’s not just useful for her personal damage. She brings additional support that can benefit your entire composition.
Why Pepper is worth keeping:
-
Strong ranged damage.
-
Airborne combos provide useful defensive options.
-
Ultimate applies Paralysis.
-
Provides an Affinity buff for the squad.
My recommendation: Pepper is a great alternative if you don’t get Midori. I’d happily keep an account with her rather than spend too much time chasing a specific character.
4. Keres
SSR | Disruptor | A Tier
Best For: Dragon-focused teams
Keres is particularly useful if you want to build a Dragon-focused team. Her abilities revolve around increasing Dragon damage, making her a valuable teammate for other Dragon damage dealers.
She also has strong weak-point damage potential. Landing attacks on monster weak points allows her to deal considerably more damage.
I especially like her potential in teams where multiple characters can take advantage of her Dragon damage bonuses.
Why Keres is worth keeping:
-
Increases the team’s Dragon damage.
-
Deals high damage when targeting weak points.
-
Strong choice for Dragon-focused compositions.
-
Useful aggressive combat abilities.
My recommendation: Keep Keres if you enjoy building elemental teams. She’s not as universally flexible as Arkaya, but she can be extremely valuable with the right teammates.
5. Rhodes
SSR | Assault | A Tier
Best For: Hammer combat and Ice damage
Rhodes is another character worth considering during your reroll attempts. He’s currently the only Hammer Adventurer, which gives him a fairly unique position in the roster.
His combat style revolves around wide Hammer attacks and building energy through charged attacks. Once you’ve accumulated enough energy, you can unleash a powerful explosion.
He also provides good mobility through his Skating Charge state, making him more mobile than you might expect from a Hammer character.
Why Rhodes is worth keeping:
-
Unique Hammer combat style.
-
Wide attacks that can hit monsters effectively.
-
Charged attacks build energy for powerful explosions.
-
Currently the only Ice-focused Adventurer.
My recommendation: Rhodes is a decent starting character, especially if you enjoy Hammer gameplay. I’d keep him if you don’t manage to obtain the higher-priority reroll targets.
Characters You Shouldn’t Reroll For
There are several characters I wouldn’t recommend spending your reroll attempts chasing. The main reason is that you can obtain them for free through normal game progression.
These include:
| Character | Why You Should Skip |
|---|---|
| Luka | Available for free through progression and already a strong character. |
| Madelyn | Can be obtained for free and provides valuable healing. |
| Pyro | Unlockable through progression, so there’s little reason to reroll specifically for him. |
| Luxheart | Available later through normal progression. |
| Ryunosuke | Can be unlocked for free and provides useful Fire team support. |
I would rather spend my reroll attempts trying to obtain a limited character like Midori or a flexible support like Arkaya.
There’s no point in repeatedly restarting your account just to obtain a character you’ll eventually unlock by playing the game.
How to Reroll in Monster Hunter Outlanders
Now that you know which characters to target, let’s go through the reroll process.
Before starting, remember that one attempt takes around 25–30 minutes. You’ll need to complete the early progression and unlock the recruitment feature before you can spend your available contracts.
Step 1: Start With a New Account
First, create an account that you don’t mind deleting if you don’t get the character you’re looking for.
In supported Garena regions, you can use Guest Mode to make this process easier.
In other regions, you’ll generally need a new email address for each attempt.
I recommend keeping your account details organized so you don’t accidentally lose access to an account you want to keep.
Step 2: Complete the Early Missions
Once you enter the game, progress through the opening missions.
You can skip cutscenes if the option is available to save some time. I also recommend choosing a weapon that makes early monster fights easier.
Your main objective is to complete the first Kulu-Ya-Ku hunt because recruitment becomes available after this encounter.
Don’t spend too much time experimenting with different weapons during this stage. The faster you finish the early missions, the more reroll attempts you can complete.
Step 3: Collect Your Recruitment Rewards
After unlocking recruitment, open your in-game mailbox and collect the available sign-up rewards.
You should receive:
| Reward | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Featured Contracts | 5 |
| Standard Contracts | 20 |
Make sure you collect everything before moving to the next step.
Step 4: Get the Free Featured Contract
Next, visit the Maple Echoes shop and collect the free Featured Contract.
This gives you one additional Featured Contract, bringing your total to six.
Don’t forget this step because you’ll want to use every available Featured Contract on Midori’s recruitment.
Step 5: Spend Your Contracts
Now it’s time to use your recruitment contracts.
I recommend spending them as follows:
-
Featured Contracts: Use all six on Midori’s Featured Recruitment.
-
Standard Contracts: Use all 20 on Standard Recruitment.
Your main objective is to obtain Midori. However, you should also pay attention to other SSR characters you might receive through Standard Recruitment.
If you get Arkaya, Pepper, Keres, or Rhodes, you may have a good enough starting account to stop rerolling.
Step 6: Restart if You Don’t Get a Good Character
If you don’t obtain Midori or another SSR character you’re happy with, you can start another reroll attempt.
Open the game settings and look for the Delete Account option.
Before deleting your account, make sure you leave any guild you’re part of.
For Guest Mode accounts, clearing the game’s app data can also allow you to start again.
Be careful here: deleting an account is a permanent action, so double-check that you’re not removing an account you want to keep.
Monster Hunter Outlanders Recruitment Rates
Before spending your contracts, it’s worth understanding how the recruitment system works.
Here are the important details:
| Recruitment Detail | Rate or Requirement |
|---|---|
| Base SSR Rate | 0.6% |
| SSR Guarantee | Within 90 pulls |
| Featured Recruitment | Has its own featured guarantee progression |
| Standard Recruitment | Separate recruitment pool |
| Buddy Recruitment | Separate recruitment and guarantee |
The base SSR recruitment rate is 0.6%, which means getting an SSR character isn’t particularly easy.
However, the game provides a guarantee within 90 pulls, so you won’t be relying entirely on luck forever.
One important thing to remember is that Featured Recruitment guarantees carry over to the next Featured Recruitment banner. This means if you don’t get Midori, your progress toward the guarantee isn’t completely wasted.
Buddy recruitment also has its own separate guarantee system, so don’t confuse it with Adventurer recruitment.
Rerolling in Monster Hunter Outlanders can give you a useful advantage, especially if you manage to obtain Midori during her launch recruitment. She’s my first choice because of her excellent Fire damage and strong performance against Fire-weak monsters.
However, Arkaya is another character I would happily keep because his shields and Affinity buffs make him useful in almost any team. Pepper, Keres, and Rhodes are also solid alternatives if your luck isn’t particularly good.
My advice is to aim for Midori, but don’t chase perfection. If you get a strong SSR character within your first few attempts, consider keeping the account and start enjoying the game instead of repeating the same early missions.
