Magicite Shards are a key resource in Final Fantasy Resonance that players can collect throughout the game. You’ll find them in chests, as rewards from Sub Quests, and during the main storyline. To use them for their intended purpose, which is to awaken Visions, you must progress into the latter part of Chapter 1.
Once you’ve made it past Siren’s Tower and are preparing to leave Grandport via ship, you will encounter an unskippable cutscene in a port town. This is where you meet the Moogle of Light near the item shop. The Moogle will enlighten you on how to use Magicite and provide you with a free Magicite Shard as a bonus.

How to Use Magicite Shards
To begin using your Magicite Shards, you will need to interact with the Moogle again after obtaining it. This allows you to enhance your Vision’s Awakening Level, granting access to improved skills. The maximum Awakening Level is 3, but each upgrade requires increasing amounts of Magicite. For instance, when Leah first joins you, she can cast Cure, but by upgrading her Awakening Level, she’ll eventually unlock advanced spells like Cura, Shellga, Esuna, and Banishra.
It’s important to note that the Awakening Level is different from the Mastery Rank, which you develop by engaging in battles and earning MRP (Mastery Rank Points).
