Fishing in Nivalis Nights is a little more specific than simply throwing your line into the nearest water. Every fish has its own preferred district, weather conditions, and time of day, so knowing when and where to fish can save you a lot of time.
In this guide, I’ll go through all 21 fish currently available in Nivalis Nights and show you the district, weather, and time you need for each one. I’ll also cover the fishing rods available from Fishmongers and explain the important stats that make each rod different.
If you’re trying to complete your fish collection or simply want to catch a specific fish, use the tables below before heading out. Checking the weather forecast first is especially useful because some fish only appear during certain weather conditions.

Fishing Locations
The fish are spread across five main districts, and each area has its own selection of fish.
Seaside Boardwalk
The Seaside Boardwalk is home to four fish:
- Bream — Clouds, Dusty, or Fog during the day.
- Brook Trout — Rain, Storm, or Sunny at night.
- Carp — Clouds, Dusty, or Storm at night.
- Crucian — Rain, Storm, or Clouds during the day.
Calypso Island
Calypso Island has five fish, and most of them require Sunny weather:
- Dace — Sunny, night.
- Grayling — Sunny, day.
- Ide — Sunny, night.
- Lake Trout — Sunny, day.
- Perch — Sunny, night.
If you’re hunting fish on Calypso Island, the weather forecast is particularly important because every fish listed here requires Sunny weather.
Industrial District
The Industrial District has six fish:
- Rainbow Trout — Rain, Fog, or Storm at night.
- Roach — Sunny, Fog, or Clouds during the day.
- Rudd — Sunny, Rain, or Storm at night.
- Ruffe — Rain, Fog, or Storm during the day.
- Sabrefish — Sunny, Fog, or Clouds at night.
- Salmon — Sunny during either day or night.
Salmon is especially convenient because you don’t need to wait for a specific time of day, but you do still need Sunny weather.
The Stacks
The Stacks contains six fish:
- Taimen — Rain, Fog, or Storm during the day.
- Tench — Sunny or Rain at night.
- Volga Zander — Sunny or Rain during the day.
- Whitefish — Any listed weather condition: Sunny, Rain, Fog, Storm, or Clouds, at night.
- Zander — Sunny or Rain during the day.
- Zope — Sunny or Rain at night.
Whitefish has the widest weather selection in the game, making it one of the easier fish to target when the weather isn’t cooperating elsewhere.
How Weather and Time Affect Fishing
Before you travel to a fishing location, check the current forecast. A fish will only bite when all three requirements are satisfied:
- You’re fishing in the correct district.
- The current weather matches the fish’s requirements.
- It’s the correct time of day.
For example, if you’re trying to catch Bream, you need to be at the Seaside Boardwalk during the day while the weather is Clouds, Dusty, or Fog.
Going to the correct district alone isn’t enough. If the weather or time is wrong, you’ll need to wait for the right conditions.
Fishing Rods
Fishing rods in Nivalis Nights have three important stats:
- Throw Range — How far you can cast your fishing line.
- Lure Range — How far the lure can attract fish.
- Luck — Your fishing luck stat.
All of the currently listed rods can be purchased from a Fishmonger.
| Fishing Rod | Throw Range | Lure Range | Luck | Sold By |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bait 3000 Fishing Rod | 18 | 5 | 3 | Fishmonger |
| Iron Cast S Fishing Rod | 14 | 2 | 4 | Fishmonger |
| Old Fishing Rod | 9 | 1 | 8 | Fishmonger |
| Rusty Fishing Rod | 7 | 4 | 5 | Fishmonger |
| True Cast 7X Fishing Rod | 31 | 2 | 6 | Fishmonger |
Which Fishing Rod Should You Use?
There isn’t one rod that has the highest value in every stat, so your choice depends on what matters most to you.
The True Cast 7X Fishing Rod has the highest Throw Range at 31, making it useful when you want to cast farther. It also has 6 Luck, which is higher than most of the other rods listed.
The Old Fishing Rod has the highest Luck at 8, but its Throw Range and Lure Range are both low. If you’re fishing in an area where distance isn’t important, its higher Luck can make it worth considering.
The Bait 3000 Fishing Rod has a good balance between Throw Range and Lure Range, while the Rusty Fishing Rod offers a stronger Lure Range than most options besides the Bait 3000.
Fishing Tips
The biggest mistake you can make when fishing is ignoring the weather. If you’re looking for a particular fish, check its requirements first instead of randomly fishing around a district.
I recommend planning your fishing trip around the forecast. If the weather isn’t suitable for your target fish, it can be more efficient to work on another fish whose requirements match the current conditions.
Also pay attention to the time of day. Some fish are strictly daytime fish, while others only appear at night. Salmon is the exception because it can be caught during both day and night as long as it’s Sunny.
Fishing in Nivalis Nights becomes much easier once you understand that every fish has specific requirements. There are currently 21 fish to catch, spread across Seaside Boardwalk, Calypso Island, Industrial District, and The Stacks.
Keep the fish table handy, check the forecast before traveling, and make sure you’re fishing at the correct time. Once you combine the right location, weather, and time, completing your collection becomes much more straightforward.
