There isn’t one weapon that you have to use throughout Crimson Moon. The best choice depends heavily on your build, the Weapon Art you want to use, and the other equipment you’ve collected during your runs.
One-handed swords are a good choice if you want a straightforward and flexible melee setup, while hammers can be useful when you want heavier attacks. Polearms give you another option for controlling space and attacking enemies from a greater distance.
Shields are especially useful if you prefer a more defensive playstyle, but they aren’t limited to blocking. Their Weapon Arts can provide additional attacks, elemental effects, buffs, or other useful effects.
As you progress, I recommend trying different weapons instead of immediately sticking with the first one you find. A weapon with an interesting Weapon Art can become much more valuable when you find armor, rings, or Boons that complement its effects.
The weapon system is one of the most important parts of Crimson Moon, and there is plenty of room to experiment. With swords, axes, hammers, polearms, and shields available, you can build your Nephilim around the combat style you enjoy most.
Keep an eye on each weapon’s Weapon Art, as this can be just as important as the weapon’s basic attacks. Some weapons also have strong connections to specific elemental or status effects, making them particularly useful when combined with the right gear and Boons.
Since your equipment can change from run to run, don’t be afraid to test different combinations. You may find that a weapon you initially overlooked becomes a key part of one of your strongest builds.
