Hamsters in Chop Chop Inc are much more useful than they first appear. They are not simply little creatures you can find around the map; they are tied directly to the game’s automation system through Hamstertech. Once you complete the hamster family’s questline, you can start using hamsters to operate machines and make parts of your factory run automatically.
Getting to this point takes a little preparation because Hamster Home is hidden behind a broken mechanism in the mine. You also need to complete several errands for Momma and Daddy Hamster before Hamstertech becomes available.
This Chop Chop Inc Hamster Guide takes you through the entire process from repairing the mine bridge to unlocking Hamstertech, including the materials you need for every hamster quest.
Chop Chop Inc Hamster Guide – Questline, Hamstertech
You cannot simply walk straight to Hamster Home at the beginning of the game. The route is blocked by a broken gear mechanism that controls the bridges inside the mine.
Before heading into the mine, you need to craft a Cogwheel.
Go to the furnace next to the Woodman Corp wooden building and use it to craft the Cogwheel.
You need:
- 4x Metal Ingots
Once you have four Metal Ingots, craft the Cogwheel and take it with you to the broken gear mechanism in the mine.
Interact with the mechanism and select Build.
The Cogwheel will be installed into the broken mechanism, repairing the lever that controls the mine’s bridge system.
Once the repair is complete, interact with the lever and pull it.
This opens the previously inaccessible paths through the mine and gives you a route toward Hamster Home.
Find Hamster Home
With the mine mechanism repaired, follow the newly opened route through the mine.
The path is fairly straightforward now that the bridge is working, so keep following the new route until you reach Hamster Home.
Inside, you will meet Daddy Hamster and the rest of the hamster family.
Talk to Daddy Hamster first. He will explain that Momma Hamster is pregnant, which is why he needs your help getting things ready for her.
After speaking with Daddy, talk to Momma Hamster.
This starts the hamster family’s questline.
There is also something worth checking while you are in this area. If you already have the Stone Axe, you can explore the nearby tunnel to find the secret developer room. It is not required for unlocking Hamstertech, but it is an easy extra objective to grab while you are already here.
Complete the Very Comfortable Pillows Quest
The first hamster quest is called Very Comfortable Pillows.
Momma Hamster wants a couple of comfortable pillows, and your objectives are:
- Collect 2 Worn-Out Pillows
- Craft 2 Very Comfortable Pillows
- Give both pillows to Momma Hamster
The two worn-out pillows are located directly in front of Momma Hamster.
Pick them up and take them outside to your Workbench.
You need 8 Stonewoods in total to restore the two pillows.
Each pillow requires:
4x Stonewood
So make sure you have eight Stonewoods before starting the crafting process.
Use the Workbench to repair both worn-out pillows and turn them into Very Comfortable Pillows.
Once both pillows have been crafted, take them back to Momma Hamster and give them to her.
This completes the first quest.
Afterward, speak with Daddy Hamster again. He has another request for you, and this time it involves Momma Hamster’s favorite snack.
Complete the A Little Snack Quest
The second quest is called A Little Snack.
This time, Momma Hamster wants something considerably stranger than ordinary food: Pickles and Chocolate Mix.
The objectives are:
- Craft 1x Pickles and Chocolate Mix
- Give it to Momma Hamster
You need two ingredients to make the snack:
- 1x Chocolate Cream
- 1x Pickled Cucumbers
These ingredients can be ordered from your PC, which is called Screw It! Supplies.
Each ingredient costs 10 Gold, so you need 20 Gold to purchase both.
Order the Chocolate Cream and Pickled Cucumbers and wait for the delivery.
When the order arrives, you will receive a large box. Pick it up and take the ingredients to your Workbench.
Interact with the Workbench and select the recipe for Pickles and Chocolate Mix.
The recipe requires the pickled cucumbers to be placed into the mixture. Once you have completed the crafting process, you will have Momma Hamster’s favorite snack.
Take the finished Pickles and Chocolate Mix back to Momma Hamster and give it to her.
There is one important thing I would recommend doing before you move too far ahead: keep at least three hamsters available.
You will eventually have other uses for them. One hamster is needed for the Flying Hamster ritual at the Mysterious Well, while two are needed for building the Electronics Press, which is useful for crafting Batteries.
So while the quest only seems to require you to deal with Momma Hamster’s food, it is better not to use up every hamster you have.
Complete the Fixing the Pipe Quest
After completing the snack quest, Momma Hamster will give you another task called Fixing the Pipe.
She explains that there is a small inlet pipe next to the outlet pipe. If you occasionally send her one of the treats through it, she can send the hamster boys up to play.
Before that can happen, however, the pipe needs to be cleared.
The quest objectives are:
- Check outside for the clogged pipe.
- Clear the clogged pipe Daddy Hamster mentioned.
Head outside and search around the hamster area for the clogged pipe.
Once you find it, climb onto the pipe so you can reach the blocked exit.
You need your axe for this part.
Equip the axe and use it on the clogged section of the pipe.
You do not need to build anything or find another special item. The main trick is simply getting high enough on the pipe to reach the blocked exit.
Break the obstruction and the pipe will be cleared.
Build the Hamster Cage for Hamster Resort
Once the pipe has been repaired, you can move on to the Hamster Resort quest.
This is the final major step before Hamstertech becomes available.
For the hamster cage, you need the following materials:
- 1x Hamster House
- 10x Small Animal Fence
- 5x Small Birch Beam
- 1x Birch Plank
Make sure you have every required material before returning to the hamster area. It is much easier to gather everything first rather than going back and forth between the hamster home and your base.
Once you have all the materials, return to the pipe where you completed the previous quest.
Interact with the construction point and build the Hamster Cage.
After the cage has been successfully built, you should receive a notification telling you that Hamstertech has been unlocked.
That notification is the confirmation that you have completed the hamster questline correctly.
Unlock Hamstertech
Once the Hamster Cage is built, Hamstertech becomes available.
This is the real payoff for completing the entire hamster questline.
Hamstertech allows you to use the hamsters as part of the game’s automation system. Instead of manually operating everything yourself, you can start incorporating hamsters into your production setup.
At this point, return to Momma Hamster and use the pipe you repaired earlier.
Send her the Pickles and Chocolate Mix through the pipe.
Momma Hamster will then send the hamsters through the pipe to help you.
This is essentially where the hamster system starts becoming useful for your factory rather than simply being a questline.

The biggest thing to remember is that the hamster questline is not just a side activity. Hamstertech becomes an important part of automation, so it is worth completing once you have reached the point where your factory is starting to involve more machines. Also, keep a few hamsters available rather than using them all immediately, since other systems later require them as well.
