One thing I realized pretty quickly in Soulbound Online is that there isn’t a single weapon that’s objectively the best. Unlike many RPGs where you simply equip whatever has the highest damage, Soulbound asks you to think about attack patterns, relic pools, abilities, and your preferred combat style.
A fast sword can outperform a slow hammer if your build revolves around critical hits or rapid attacks, while a Greatsword shines when you’re clearing groups of enemies with powerful swings.
With that said, some weapons definitely stand above the rest thanks to their strong stats, rarity, and late-game progression. This tier list ranks every notable weapon based on overall performance in PvE, dungeon runs, and long-term progression during Early Access.
Note: Since Soulbound Online is currently in Early Access, weapon balance may change in future updates.

Obtained through Spectra content, Gravewhisper combines fast attacks with excellent endgame performance.
It’s especially good for players who enjoy aggressive melee combat.
Soulbinder
Weapon Type: Greatsword
Soulbinder offers an excellent balance of:
- High damage
- Strong relic options
- Reliable boss performance
If you prefer Greatswords, this is one of the safest long-term investments.
Ferrox Axe
Weapon Type: Hammer/Axe
Despite requiring a high level, Ferrox Axe rewards the investment with fantastic overall performance.
It excels at clearing groups thanks to powerful area attacks.
A Tier Weapons
These weapons remain excellent choices throughout most of the game.
Fukushu no Katana
One of the best Epic swords before reaching true endgame gear.
Pros:
- Fast attack speed
- Smooth gameplay
- Reliable relic pool
Drakkar
Drakkar performs extremely well in both normal dungeons and tougher encounters.
Its balanced stats make it useful for almost every situation.

Among Greatswords, Eclipse is one of the strongest mid-to-late-game options.
Excellent for players who enjoy powerful sweeping attacks.
Toxic Messenger
This Epic Hammer offers consistent performance with excellent crowd-clearing potential.
Fiery Jackhammer
A fun heavy weapon with solid overall damage and dependable progression.
Chronocore Sword
One of the strongest crafted swords available before reaching higher-level Epic gear.
Chronosteel Broadsword
An excellent crafted Greatsword that carries players comfortably into later content.
B Tier Weapons
These weapons are perfectly usable but are usually replaced once better Epic gear becomes available.
Harbinger of the Foundation
Reliable sword with respectable stats but eventually overshadowed by stronger alternatives.
Patek’s Tritium Needle
Solid weapon for mid-game progression.
Good damage but lacks the overall power of higher-tier swords.
Patek’s Tritium Barometer
One of the better Greatswords before obtaining Soulbinder or Soul Hunter’s Spine.
Tortured Punisher
A dependable Epic Hammer that’s effective during progression but doesn’t quite reach S Tier.
Chronocore Hammer
Strong crafted option that bridges the gap toward endgame heavy weapons.
Maelstrom
One of the earliest Epic Hammers players can obtain.
Excellent early Epic choice.
Mighty Cleaver
Although technically a Rare weapon, it remains surprisingly effective for its level.
C Tier Weapons
These weapons perform well during progression but are generally temporary upgrades.
Included here are:
- Energised Cleaver
- Energised Greatsword

Best Weapon Type
Each weapon class offers a very different experience.
Swords
Best For:
- Fast attacks
- Mobility
- Consistent DPS
- Beginner-friendly combat
If you enjoy constantly attacking and dodging, swords are an excellent choice.
Greatswords
Best For:
- High burst damage
- Long reach
- Boss fights
- Powerful swings
Greatswords reward patience and good positioning.
Hammers & Axes
Best For:
- Area damage
- Crowd control
- Heavy hits
- Clearing large enemy groups
These weapons hit slower but deal tremendous damage across multiple enemies.
Cosmetic Weapons
Soulbound lets you separate appearance from stats.
This means you can:
- Equip your strongest weapon for combat.
- Display another weapon purely for appearance.
If your cosmetic weapon belongs to a different weapon class, you’ll first need to equip a matching weapon type before applying the cosmetic version.
It’s a small extra step, but it allows you to keep your favorite look without sacrificing performance.
Soulbound Online does a great job of making weapon choice feel meaningful. Instead of simply chasing the highest attack value, each weapon type offers its own attack pattern, relic pool, and combat rhythm. Fast swords excel at sustained damage, Greatswords reward careful positioning with devastating strikes, and Hammers or Axes dominate when clearing groups of enemies.
While weapons like Oathmourne, Soul Hunter’s Spine, Gravewhisper, Soulbinder, and Ferrox Axe currently stand out as some of the strongest options available, the best weapon is ultimately the one that complements your build, abilities, and preferred playstyle. As Early Access continues and balance changes arrive, experimenting with different weapon combinations will remain one of the most rewarding parts of Soulbound Online.
