Fatekeeper Forgotten Halls Walkthrough Guide – Secrets

The Forgotten Halls is one of the first major combat challenges you’ll encounter in Fatekeeper. Many players hit a wall here because enemies deal heavy damage, traps are everywhere, and several encounters can quickly overwhelm you if you try to fight everything head-on.

After spending time experimenting with the level, I found that the safest approach isn’t necessarily having the best gear. Instead, it’s learning how to use the environment, traps, abilities, and enemy positioning to your advantage. This guide covers the entire area, including important loot, useful resources, shortcuts, and the hidden Burning Axe near the end of the level.

Fatekeeper Forgotten Halls Walkthrough Guide

Before stepping into the Forgotten Halls, spend some time at the Alchemy Lab.

Craft several healing potions before starting the dungeon. The enemies inside can stagger you repeatedly, and having emergency healing available makes a huge difference.

While crafting, pay attention to the ingredient icons.

The yellow icon represents potion effects. These are consumables that you drink to gain bonuses or healing.

The green icon represents vial effects. Vials are applied directly to your weapon and temporarily grant additional effects during combat.

One useful early combination is creating potions that restore both health and mana. Even basic healing mixtures can save a run when things start going wrong.

I strongly recommend carrying multiple healing potions before entering. The level contains enough difficult encounters that you’ll almost certainly need them.

Combat in the Forgotten Halls

The biggest lesson this dungeon teaches is that direct combat is often the worst option.

Enemies hit surprisingly hard for an early-game area. If they land the first attack, they can quickly stagger-lock you and remove a large portion of your health.

Instead of trading blows, focus on:

  • Using kicks to knock enemies off ledges
  • Pulling enemies into hazards
  • Taking advantage of spikes
  • Using environmental objects as weapons
  • Separating dangerous enemies from groups

Many encounters become dramatically easier when you stop treating them like traditional fights.

The Opening Area

Shortly after entering, you’ll encounter your first group of enemies near several ledges.

Rather than fighting them directly, use jump attacks, dashes, and kicks to knock them over the edge.

Environmental kills are extremely effective and eliminate enemies instantly regardless of their health.

This section is also a good opportunity to gain an early level if you’re close to leveling up.

Whenever possible, prioritize positioning over damage output.

Using Telekinesis and Environmental Objects

As you continue forward, you’ll gain access to rooms containing furniture and other movable objects.

Tables are especially useful.

Pick them up and throw them into groups of enemies. While it doesn’t always work perfectly due to obstacles like chairs getting in the way, environmental damage can weaken multiple opponents at once and create openings for safer attacks.

Telekinesis is also useful for pulling enemies out of advantageous positions.

Enemies standing near edges become easy targets once they’re moved closer to a drop.

The Spike Room Strategy

One of the most difficult early rooms becomes surprisingly easy if you’re patient.

When you arrive at the large chamber containing spike traps, you’ll notice several enemies wandering around nearby.

Instead of rushing in, observe them carefully.

Certain enemies repeatedly perform idle animations that slowly move them forward. Because some of these enemies stand close to spike traps, they can eventually walk directly into danger without any input from the player.

While waiting, take the opportunity to loot the nearby side room.

This room contains several useful crafting materials, including ingredients used for poison effects and stronger potion crafting.

By the time you’re finished looting, some enemies may have already eliminated themselves on the traps.

Patience can save a tremendous amount of health in this section.

Resource Collection Throughout the Dungeon

The Forgotten Halls contains numerous alchemy ingredients.

Make sure to gather everything you find, especially:

  • Blue Dogbane
  • Everkin Mushrooms
  • Northern Fire Caps
  • Vermillion crafting materials
  • Poison ingredients

These resources become valuable later when crafting stronger potions and weapon coatings.

Many players rush through the dungeon and miss a surprising number of materials.

The Arena Encounter

Eventually you’ll reach a large combat room containing multiple enemy types.

Before advancing too far, avoid moving immediately after opening the door.

There is a brief moment where enemies haven’t fully detected your presence.

Use this opportunity to identify the most dangerous target in the room.

Typically, the large enemy should be your first priority.

A well-placed kick can launch him directly into nearby spikes, instantly removing the biggest threat from the encounter.

Once the strongest enemy is gone, the remaining enemies become much easier to manage.

Use fire abilities, weapon effects, and healing potions whenever necessary.

The goal is controlling the fight rather than rushing through it.

Clearing Archers Safely

Archers can be extremely annoying if left alive.

Instead of slowly approaching them while taking damage, close the distance quickly and use kicks whenever possible.

Many archer positions are located near environmental hazards.

Knocking them into traps is often faster and safer than fighting them normally.

Keep moving during these encounters and avoid standing still while projectiles are incoming.

Trap Navigation

Several floors contain pressure plates and trap mechanisms.

Many of these buttons activate dangerous hazards.

Rather than stepping directly on them, simply jump over them whenever possible.

Doing so prevents unnecessary damage and makes navigation much safer.

Important Loot Inside the Forgotten Halls

Lizard Skin Headdress

One of the best early pieces of equipment in the dungeon is the Lizard Skin Headdress.

After reaching the upper floors, search the rear room located above the main bridge area.

Inside a chest you’ll find the headdress.

This item provides elemental resistance and poison resistance, making it useful for several future encounters.

Courtyard Key

The Courtyard Key is required to continue progressing through the area.

Search the lower-floor rooms thoroughly and check every chest.

Eventually you’ll discover the key hidden among the loot.

Once obtained, return to the locked gate and use the key to continue deeper into the dungeon.

Campfire Management

One of the most valuable habits in Fatekeeper is using campfires frequently.

Whenever you’ve successfully cleared a difficult section, return to the nearest campfire and create a new save.

The Forgotten Halls contains several dangerous encounters that can easily kill an unprepared player.

Saving progress after clearing major rooms prevents you from repeating large portions of the dungeon after every death.

This becomes especially important during the later sections.

Poison Throwers and Lever Secrets

After passing through the Courtyard area, you’ll encounter enemies that throw poison attacks.

These enemies can become extremely dangerous if ignored.

Use telekinesis to pull them from elevated positions whenever possible.

Removing their height advantage makes them significantly easier to kill.

Nearby, you’ll find a lever that can be activated using telekinesis.

Pulling the lever opens a small side area containing a chest with additional loot, including a Northern Fire Cap.

While optional, it’s worth grabbing because crafting materials are still relatively scarce at this point in the game.

Platforming and Vertical Routes

Several sections require jumping between elevated platforms and structures.

Take your time here.

Many of these elevated routes provide better positioning against enemies and allow you to attack from safer angles.

When entering combat arenas, always look for higher ground first.

The environment is often more powerful than your weapons.

The Difficult Upper Courtyard

This is arguably the hardest part of the entire Forgotten Halls.

Before entering, fully restore your health and mana.

Blue Dogbane is particularly useful here because it can help replenish both resources.

The strategy that worked best for me was eliminating enemies one at a time using environmental kills.

The wind ability becomes extremely powerful during this section because many enemies stand near edges.

Instead of fighting them directly, lure them toward dangerous positions and knock them off.

The poison-throwing enemies should always be eliminated first whenever possible.

Leaving them alive creates constant pressure and makes the entire encounter much harder.

Opening the Main Gate

After clearing the upper sections, you’ll eventually gain access to multiple lever mechanisms.

Pull both levers located on opposite sides of the structure.

Once both have been activated, the main gate opens.

This allows access to the final section of the area and the valuable weapon hidden below.

The Burning Axe Location

One of the most important rewards in the Forgotten Halls is the Burning Axe.

After opening the main gate, continue downward through the structure.

Keep descending until you reach the lowest floor of the area.

At the bottom, you’ll discover the Burning Axe waiting to be collected.

Because it’s located off the main path and requires progressing through much of the dungeon, many players accidentally miss it.

Before leaving the area, make absolutely sure you’ve picked it up.

Reaching the Relict Waterways

After obtaining the Burning Axe, continue following the descending route beyond the main gate.

Eventually you’ll arrive at the Relict Waterways, which serves as the next major area in your journey.

At this point you’ve successfully completed the Forgotten Halls and collected all of the most valuable rewards along the way.

The Forgotten Halls is designed to teach players that Fatekeeper rewards creativity more than brute force. The players who struggle the most are usually the ones trying to fight every enemy fairly. Meanwhile, players who use spikes, ledges, telekinesis, kicks, traps, and environmental objects can clear the dungeon with surprisingly little difficulty.

Take your time, gather every resource you find, grab the Lizard Skin Headdress and Courtyard Key, save frequently at campfires, and don’t leave without collecting the Burning Axe at the bottom of the area. Doing so will make the transition into the Relict Waterways much smoother and prepare you for the tougher challenges ahead.
