Fatekeeper Alchemy Lab Guide – Crafting TIPS, Location

Alchemy is one of the first useful crafting systems you’ll come across in Fatekeeper, and it’s worth learning early. Potions can give powerful temporary bonuses, improve your survivability, and add extra effects to your weapons. The game doesn’t explain the system particularly well, so many players walk right past it without realizing how useful it is.

After spending some time experimenting with the system, I found that alchemy is actually very simple once you know where everything is and how the crafting menu works.

Fatekeeper Alchemy Lab Guide – Crafting TIPS, Location

The Alchemy Lab is located inside Haven.

When you enter through the main entrance and reach the large map table, there are two ways to reach the crafting area.

The first route is to walk directly down the nearby stairs beside the map table. Following those stairs leads you straight into the lower section of the building.

The second route is to walk toward the right side of the room and follow the staircase that wraps downward. Even though it looks like a different path, it eventually brings you to the exact same location.

Once you reach the lower area, look for a brewing pot positioned in the corner of the room. This pot serves as the Alchemy Station and is where all potion and vial crafting takes place.

Interact with it and press the interaction key to open the brewing menu.

Brewing Station

When the Alchemy interface opens, you’ll immediately notice your available ingredients displayed on the left side of the screen.

These ingredients are gathered throughout the game world and are used to create different consumables.

The crafting menu is divided into three categories:

Potions

Potions are consumable items that provide beneficial effects to your character. These can improve combat performance, increase survivability, and grant temporary buffs.

Vials

Vials function as another type of crafted consumable and use many of the same ingredients found throughout your adventures.

Hand Bombs

Hand Bombs appear in the crafting menu but may initially be unavailable. During the early stages of the game, this category is typically locked, preventing players from creating explosive items until the required unlock conditions are met.

If you are just starting out, focus on Potions and Vials since those are the crafting options available from the beginning.

Collecting Ingredients

One of the easiest mistakes new players make is ignoring plants while exploring.

Almost every mushroom, flower, and gathering node you encounter can potentially be used in alchemy. Because of this, it’s a good habit to collect every crafting material you see.

The Alchemy Lab itself contains several crafting materials scattered around the room, making it a good place to gather some starting ingredients before heading back out into the world.

Whenever you’re exploring forests, ruins, caves, or open fields, take a few extra seconds to pick up nearby plants. Those resources add up quickly and allow you to experiment with more recipes later.

Creating Custom Potions

One of the most interesting features of the alchemy system is that you are not limited to predefined recipes.

Instead, you can combine ingredients to create custom potions with multiple effects.

For example, a potion can include bonuses such as:

  • Increased Stance
  • Life Leech
  • Fire Damage on Weapons
  • Additional Fire Damage Percentage
  • Health Restoration

By combining ingredients that provide those effects, you can create a potion tailored specifically to your build.

This flexibility allows melee players, ranged characters, and magic-focused builds to all benefit from the same crafting system while creating completely different consumables.

As you collect more ingredients, you’ll naturally discover stronger combinations and more specialized potion setups.

Potion Effects and Combat Benefits

The biggest advantage of alchemy is that crafted potions can improve multiple aspects of combat at the same time.

A single potion can help you survive longer through healing effects while simultaneously increasing your offensive power through elemental damage bonuses.

Life Leech effects are especially valuable because they allow you to recover health during combat.

Fire Damage bonuses can significantly increase weapon effectiveness, especially during longer fights where every bit of extra damage matters.

Meanwhile, health restoration provides immediate recovery that can save you when resources are running low.

Because potion effects can stack together, crafting becomes increasingly important as enemies become more dangerous.

Discovering Recipes

Custom brewing is useful, but Fatekeeper also includes recipe-based crafting.

Inside the Alchemy Lab, you can find recipe documents placed on nearby tables. These recipes reveal specific ingredient combinations required to create certain consumables.

After obtaining a recipe, it becomes accessible through the recipe menu.

Opening a recipe displays all required ingredients needed for that item.

This makes crafting much easier because you no longer have to guess which materials belong together.

Using Automatic Ingredient Selection

One feature many players overlook is the automatic ingredient function.

When viewing a recipe, you can press the middle mouse button to automatically place the required ingredients into the crafting slots.

Instead of manually selecting each material one by one, the game fills the recipe for you.

This saves a surprising amount of time, especially when repeatedly crafting the same consumable.

Controller users will likely have a different button assigned to this feature, so check the control settings if the middle mouse button isn’t available.

Explosive Recipes and Hand Bomb Crafting

Some recipes are designed for explosive consumables rather than standard potions.

If you discover a recipe that creates a grenade or explosive item, you may notice that crafting is unavailable while the Hand Bomb category remains locked.

In these situations, the recipe can still be viewed, but you’ll likely need to unlock Hand Bomb crafting before you can actually produce the item.

Keep any explosive recipes you find because they may become useful later in your progression.

Managing Crafted Items

After crafting an item, it is automatically added to your inventory.

Crafted consumables can also appear in the consumables section of your quick-use slots, making them easier to access during combat.

It’s a good idea to periodically check your inventory after crafting sessions so you know exactly what resources and consumables you have available before heading out on quests.

Many players forget they have useful potions sitting unused in their bags.
