Acidic Raion Pouch comes from a strange underwater organism called the Acid Raion.
This plant is hard to miss once you know its appearance. It looks almost like a cluster of glowing purple brains wrapped around a thick stem, with a bright green bulb sticking out from the center.
It is honestly one of the more unsettling plants in the starter biome, especially the first time you swim into a dark cave and suddenly see several of them glowing in the distance.
The purple wrinkled growths attached to the plant are the actual Acidic Raion Pouches you need to harvest.
Where to Find Acid Raion Plants
The easiest place to find Acid Raion plants is directly underneath the Lifepod area.
You do not even need to travel far.
Most players can find their first Acid Raion within roughly 30 meters below the starting area inside shallow cave systems and rocky openings in the ocean floor.
If you look around the seabed near the Lifepod, you should notice several cracks and holes leading underground. Swim into these small cave entrances and start checking the walls and corners carefully.
The caves below the starting biome are packed with these plants.
Once you recognize their glowing purple appearance, you will probably start seeing them everywhere.
You Need the Survival Multitool First
Before you can harvest Acidic Raion Pouches, you need to craft the Survival Multitool.
Thankfully, this tool is very easy to obtain early on because it only requires:
- 2 Titanium
You can craft it at the Fabricator inside your Lifepod.
Without the Survival Multitool, you can look at the plant all day long, but you will not actually be able to collect the pouch material.
How to Harvest Acidic Raion Pouch
Once you have the Survival Multitool equipped, swim up close to the Acid Raion plant and target the purple wrinkled sections attached to the main stem.
These purple growths are the Acidic Raion Pouches themselves.
Use the Survival Multitool on them to cut them free.
Each Acid Raion usually contains multiple pouches, so one plant can give you several crafting materials at once.
That makes early farming much easier than you might expect.
One thing I really like about this resource is that you do not need to endlessly search huge areas for it. Once you find a good cave with a few Acid Raion plants inside, you can reliably farm enough pouches for several important recipes very quickly.
Do Not Ignore the Green Bulb
While harvesting Acidic Raion Pouches, you should also pay attention to the glowing green bulb in the middle of the plant.
This is called the Medical Gel Sac.
Unlike the pouch material, you do not need a tool to collect it. You can simply grab it by hand.
And honestly, you absolutely should.
Medical Gel Sacs are incredibly useful during the early game because they restore health when consumed. They can also be crafted into proper First Aid Kits later on.
Considering how easy it is to accidentally damage yourself while learning cave exploration or escaping predators, having a few healing supplies nearby can save your life.
The best part is that both the pouches and Medical Gel Sacs eventually regrow on the same plant over time, meaning these caves become renewable farming spots.
What Acidic Raion Pouch Is Used For
Even though it is found very early, Acidic Raion Pouch stays important for a while because it is used in several critical crafting recipes.
Basic Battery
The biggest early use is crafting the Basic Battery.
This is one of the first major progression items in Subnautica 2 because many tools depend on battery power.
You need Basic Batteries for equipment like:
- Scanner
- Flashlight
- Other powered tools later on
Without batteries, progression slows down dramatically.
Crafting a Basic Battery requires:
- 1 Acidic Raion Pouch
- 2 Copper

Mild Acid
Acidic Raion Pouches are also used to create Mild Acid.
