There is a lot more going on in Mayor May Knott than most players expect when they first start playing. At first it feels like a relaxing town exploration game, but after a few hours you suddenly find yourself solving ghost mysteries, delivering strange food requests, repairing supernatural objects, and trying to remember which resident lives in which house.
Because the game rarely gives direct instructions, it is very easy to forget important NPCs or get stuck halfway through certain ghost quests. Some objectives only work at specific times, while others require items from completely different areas of town.
If you are struggling to keep track of everything, this guide covers the important houses, resident quests, ghost requirements, and Chance Mansion progression in a much easier format.

Ghost Quest Walkthrough Tips
Ghost quests are tied directly to progression throughout the town. Most involve:
- Delivering favorite foods
- Finding hidden objects
- Solving environmental puzzles
- Triggering nighttime events
Several quests become confusing because they chain into other NPC storylines.
Important Ghost Quest Solutions
Dr. Caboose
Find the broken radio and repair it into an Ecto-Phone.
Marla Maple
Guide her safely from the grave area back to Maple House at night.
Pastor Prime
After restoring light inside the mine, locate the fabric maker needed for the quilt.
Solamente Zapato
You first need to learn about the creepy cracks from another NPC before fixing them.
Jilly Prepper
This is one of the most complicated ghost quests.
Steps include:
- Plant Bell Peppers.
- Give them to Cavender at night.
- Ghost Peppers appear at the empty grave.
- Use them to cook Six Alarm Chili.
Charlie Foxtrot
Use the Morse code machine correctly and connect the wires:
- Bravo = Red
- Lima = Green
- Tango = Blue
A lot of players get stuck here because the game barely explains the machine.
Waxin’ Wayne
You need:
- Empty bottles
- A full moon
- Monday or Tuesday midnight
- Moon Lilies
This is one of the most time-sensitive quests in the entire game.
Chance Mansion Puzzle Guide
Chance Mansion acts as the game’s major puzzle hub.
Main objectives include:
- Solving all mansion puzzles
- Switching the gold ball with the bug in the tree
- Defeating Venn Chance
Many clues for these puzzles are hidden earlier throughout town, so exploring carefully beforehand helps a lot.
Mayor May Knott Walkthrough
Several events only happen:
- At midnight
- Early morning
- On specific weekdays
- During full moons
If a quest seems broken, timing is usually the reason.
Keep Extra Ingredients
Food quests appear constantly throughout the game. Keeping backup cooking materials saves a lot of unnecessary travel later.
Talk to NPCs Again After Progress
Some characters unlock entirely new dialogue after:
- Completing nearby quests
- Helping other residents
- Triggering story events
Explore the Town at Night
Many ghost events only appear after dark. Some areas feel completely different during nighttime exploration.
Mayor May Knott slowly becomes one giant interconnected mystery once all the questlines start overlapping. What makes the game interesting is how small details from earlier conversations eventually connect to later puzzles and ghost encounters.
The game definitely does not hold your hand much, though. Certain objectives can feel almost impossible without proper clues, especially during the later ghost chains and mansion puzzles.
Still, once you start understanding how the town works, solving everything becomes extremely satisfying. The strange residents, weird supernatural events, and hidden puzzle mechanics all end up making the town feel surprisingly memorable by the end of the game.
