Hero Siege Illusionist (Age of Proliferation) Build S9

If there’s one class in Season 9 that genuinely feels unfair from the moment you log in… it’s this. You know those builds where you struggle early, slowly scale, and then become strong? Yeah—this isn’t that. The Age of Proliferation Illusionist starts strong, stays strong, and honestly never gives you that “weak phase” most classes go through.

I’ve played a lot of starters across seasons, and this is one of those rare builds where you don’t feel like you’re “working towards power”… you already have it.

But there are a few things you should know if you want to get the most out of it, especially with the Season 9 changes.

Hero Siege Illusionist (Age of Proliferation) Build Guide – Season 9

This wasn’t just a small buff — it got stacked upgrades.

  • Damage scaling increased (both base and per point)
  • Range scaling improved (bigger coverage with fewer points)
  • Teleport synergy added (movement + damage together)
  • Multiple synergies buffed overall

So yeah… not just stronger — smoother, faster, and more efficient.

Why Everyone Is Talking About This Build

Let’s keep it simple.

What Makes It Insane

  • You get your main skill at level 1
  • It auto-targets enemies (you barely aim)
  • Built-in teleport + movement speed
  • One of the fastest leveling experiences in the game
  • Strong in solo AND even better in party play (Combat Orders)

What You Need to Watch Out For

  • No real damage reduction (you rely on HP + positioning)
  • Arcane gear is highly contested → can get expensive
  • Some augments feel awkward (you’ll avoid those anyway)

Leveling Guide

I’m not even exaggerating — this is probably the simplest leveling path in Season 9.

Level 1–15: Just Spam Age of Proliferation

  • Put all points into Age of Proliferation
  • That’s it. No tricks.

It:

  • Clears entire packs
  • Auto-targets enemies
  • Requires almost no effort

If mana feels bad:

  • Use mana potions
  • Look for mana on kill
  • Add a few energy points

Level 16+: Add Teleport Synergy

Now it gets even better.

  • Start investing in Dimensional Displacement
  • This gives:
    • Movement speed
    • Damage scaling (synergy)

Also grab:

  • Split Reality (1 point) → temporary damage buff

At this point, the build basically plays itself.

Level 30–70: Scaling Phase (But Still Easy)

Now you:

  • Max your main skill
  • Start focusing on % damage multipliers
  • Balance between:
    • More damage
    • Better mobility

Optional:

  • Invest more into teleport for smoother gameplay

Level 100 Setup

By now, your build looks like this:

  • Max Age of Proliferation
  • Max all synergies
  • Invest into mana sustain (Expansive Mind)
  • Grab utility skills:
    • Teleport
    • Combat Orders

Clean, simple, effective.

Sub Skill Tree (This Is Where You Customize)

This part actually matters more than people think.

Best Leveling Setup

You’ve got a few options here:

  • Bottom-right augment → better range (safe pick)
  • Bottom-left → more control
  • Multi-proliferation → more spread

Honestly? Pick what feels best — the build is forgiving.

Endgame Setup

  • Use multi-target beam setup
  • Focus on:
    • Faster clearing
    • Better chaining

This is what turns your build into a screen-clearing machine.

Temporal Heroes (Don’t Ignore This)

This is lowkey one of the strongest parts of the build.

  • Gives Combat Orders
    • Huge HP boost
    • Huge mana boost

Priority:

  • Cooldown reduction
  • Skill levels
  • Duration (optional)

This is why Illusionist feels so tanky despite no damage reduction.

Attributes (Flexible but Simple)

While Leveling

  • 2 Intelligence
  • 2 Vitality
  • Add Energy if needed

Endgame Options

You’ve got freedom here:

  • Full Intelligence → max damage
  • Mix with Vitality → safer gameplay

You can reset anytime, so don’t stress.

Gear Guide

While Leveling

You don’t need anything special.

Just look for:

  • Arcane skill damage
  • Flat damage
  • Faster cast rate
  • Mana sustain

This build carries itself.

Early Endgame (Fresh 100)

Goal:

  • Survive
  • Farm

Best early move:

  • Get Thor Set pieces (very strong for arcane builds)

Progression Gear

Key stats:

  • Arcane Skill Damage
  • Faster Cast Rate
  • Penetration (ignore resistance)
  • Mana sustain

Important Gear Picks

  • Strong arcane weapon (staff or wand)
  • Mana-heavy offhand (huge quality-of-life)
  • High-skill helmet (big damage boost)
  • Tanky belt with resist + damage reduction

Endgame Weapon

  • Eye of Terial (staff) → made for this build
  • Alternative: Spell Eater (great sustain + damage)

Relics, Potions & Augments

Relics

  • Arcane Globe
  • Orb of Chaos

If overcapped:

  • Swap for utility (HP / mana / speed)

Potions

  • Faster Cast Rate
  • Magic Skill Damage
  • Movement Speed

Simple but effective.

Chest Augments

Best options:

  • Monstrosity → overall best (damage + mana reduction)
  • Infinity → for double-cast setups
  • Corrosion → if you go ailment build

Mercenary Setup

Same rule as always:

  • Stack Magic Find

Why?

  • More drops
  • More money
  • Faster progression

Best picks:

  • Knight Merc (most utility + MF potential)

Incarnation Tree

Early Game

  • Stack Intelligence
  • Grab magic damage nodes

Mid Game

  • Take resistance node (huge survivability boost)

Endgame Focus

Key nodes:

  • Temporal Echo → duplicate casts
  • Roll the Dice → chance to double cast

Cool trick:

  • Teleport counts as a cast
  • You can manipulate your double-cast timing

This is where the build becomes ridiculous.
