The playtest for Allusions 2 is finally here, and if you’re jumping in without preparation, you’re going to feel lost fast. This game doesn’t hold your hand for long — but it does quietly give you all the tools you need.
Let’s go through the tips that matter before you queue your first match.
Allusions 2 Beginner Guide – Trello & Wiki Link
Characters
Your main Bread and Butter to dunk on enemies with. Characters are selectable through the main menu and they each have their own unique movesets and gimmicks.
Each character has a Primary Attack (LMB), Secondary Attack (RMB), And two abilities (E and R).
Certain characters have variations to their moves, which can be activated by fulfilling certain conditions. Variants flash purple on the move list if they’re able to be activated.
Each character also has their own theme when one enters combat with other players, which can be changed by equipping a 10K title or an unlockable title.
Each character’s page lists their reference, advantages, and combat music.
Arsenals
Secondary items that are given to you upon spawning, ranging from combo extenders to sustainability tools.
You are given two random Arsenals.
Rare Arsenals
Rare Arsenals are powerful tools that provides a wide range of uses, such as high damage, extending combos, etc.
Rare Arsenals are obtained through “Rare Orbs”, which spawn in a 30-second interval in a random spot around the map. You will be given a selection of 3 Rare Arsenals to choose from.
Rare Meter
Rare Arsenals do not have cooldowns. Instead, they require “Rare Meter” to be used.
Rare Meter is a resource gained by dealing damage or EX-Blocking damage, used to activate Rare or Legendary Arsenals.
Each Rare Arsenal has a different amount of Rare Meter required to be activated. Some Rare Arsenals may have a “Minimum” cost, allowing them to be used while only partially filling your meter.
Legendary Arsenals
Legendary Arsenals are incredibly powerful tools, some of which potentially can boast incredible damage or be game-changing events.
They are an incredibly rare pull from Rare Orbs, with a 3% chance of appearing. They are displayed as the “SOUL” card on the selection screen.
When chosen, you will be given a random Legendary Arsenal. These act the same as Rare Arsenals, where they have a meter to build up to use.
Sub-Arsenals
Passives that you can choose to enhance your playstyle.
Sub-Arsenals can be chosen in the main menu. These can greatly help your playstyle if you are able to work around their conditions. They vary in their functions.
It is recommended for you to experiment with different Sub-Arsenals to find which ones synergize best with your playstyle/gameplan.
Tip #1 – Read the Tutorial (Yes, Seriously)
Open the menu.
Head into System.
Click the Tutorial tab.
That section explains almost everything — mechanics, combat interactions, system details, and new features added since previous playtests.
Even if you played earlier builds, don’t skip it.
New mechanics are in. Adjustments were made. Some systems behave differently now.
Skipping this step is basically choosing confusion.
Spending five minutes reading it saves you hours of guessing mid-fight.
Tip #2 – Use the Moveset Tab Before Entering a Match
Every character has a full breakdown available.
Next to each character, there’s a Moveset icon. Click it.
That menu shows:
- All abilities
- Input combinations
- Directional attacks
- Special variants
- Resource requirements
- Secondary inputs
Nothing is hidden.
Instead of learning by getting punished in PvP, study your kit beforehand. The difference between a beginner and someone who looks experienced often comes down to simply knowing their inputs.
If you don’t know what your meter does, you’re playing half a character.
Tip #3 – Start With Kodsky
If you’re new, don’t overthink it.
Pick Kodsky.
He’s the most complete learning tool in the roster.
Why him?
Because his kit includes nearly every major mechanic in the game:
- Directional inputs
- Guard break options
- Utility input
- Aerial variants
- Resource management
- Secondary input that modifies his kit when meter is full
In short — he teaches you how Allusions 2 actually works.
Master him, and most other characters will feel familiar.
Jump straight into a complicated character and you’ll struggle more than necessary.
Understanding the Core Mechanics
Allusions 2 isn’t just button-mashing.
Directional inputs matter.
Meter matters.
Positioning matters.
Some moves change depending on whether you’re airborne. Others only activate under specific resource conditions.
That’s why knowing your character before fighting makes such a huge difference.
Play smart, not rushed.
Quick Playtest Survival Advice
Matches are going to be chaotic early on.
Expect people to spam.
Expect aggressive rushdowns.
Expect chaos.
Instead of trying to win every fight immediately:
- Focus on learning spacing
- Watch how guard breaks work
- Practice managing meter
- Experiment with aerial options
Improvement in this game feels satisfying because it’s mechanical, not random.
