The Garou update in A Universal Time (AUT) isn’t one of those simple “talk to NPC → get ability” unlocks. It’s actually a long grind quest that mixes currency farming, boss fights, and RNG item hunting. If you don’t know the exact order of steps, it can easily turn into hours of wasted time.
So here’s a clean, start-to-finish breakdown of everything you need to do to unlock the new Garou spec without getting stuck midway.
Step 1 — Find the Garou Quest NPC
The entire process starts by locating the quest giver.
You’re looking for an NPC named Epic Nitron X203. He’s located near the basketball court area on the main map. He doesn’t stand inside a building or anything — he’s just out in the open around that court zone.
Once you talk to him, he’ll give you the Garou quest, and this is where the grind really begins.
Step 2 — Pay the Entry Requirements
Before you can even start the boss objectives, the NPC requires a large amount of currency.
You need:
- 1,000,000 UCoins
- 1,000,000 UShards
Most players already have enough UCoins, but UShards are usually the bottleneck. You’ll likely need to farm mobs, bosses, or events to reach the total if you’re starting from scratch.
You cannot progress in the quest until you meet both requirements.
Step 3 — Prepare the Dragon Spec (Very Important)
Once the payment is done, the next part of the quest requires defeating specific bosses using the Dragon Spec.
This is critical — you don’t just need to kill them normally. The final hit must come from Dragon Spec abilities for it to count toward the quest.
If you don’t already have Dragon Spec equipped, you’ll need to get it before continuing.
A common strategy players use is damaging bosses with stronger specs first, then switching to Dragon for the final blow to save time.
Step 4 — Defeat the Required Bosses
After unlocking the combat stage, you’ll need to defeat several specific bosses in sequence.
The first targets are usually easier enemies like thug bosses, which serve as the introductory step.
After that, you’ll move on to stronger bosses such as Minos Prime and other major encounters. These fights take longer and require careful timing if you’re using the “final hit with Dragon Spec” method.
One of the later bosses also requires an item called a Slayer Contract before you can spawn and defeat it.
This stage is basically the longest part of the quest because it combines difficulty with time investment.
Step 5 — Obtain Sanji’s Cookbook (RNG Step)
The final major requirement is obtaining Sanji’s Cookbook, which is needed to spawn the last boss tied to the Garou unlock.
This item does not drop from a guaranteed source. You can get it in two ways:
- From random chests around the map
- As a reward from certain quests
Most players choose to farm chests because it’s generally faster, but it’s still completely RNG-based. You might get it quickly, or it might take dozens of chest openings.
Once you obtain the cookbook, you can finally move to the last part of the quest.
Step 6 — Spawn and Defeat the Final Boss
After getting Sanji’s Cookbook, you use it to spawn the final required boss.
Just like earlier fights, you must ensure the last hit is done using Dragon Spec for the quest to register correctly.
Once this boss is defeated, the Garou spec unlocks.
What Happens After Unlocking Garou
After completing the quest chain, you receive the Garou ability.
It currently appears to be an unfinished spec in the update, with some moves lacking sound effects or polish. However, it is fully usable and likely intended to receive future evolutions or improvements in later updates.
There are strong hints that an evolved version of Garou may eventually be added, given its rarity tier.
