When I first realized how slow normal weapon leveling was in Far Far West, I knew there had to be a better way. I wanted a setup that would let me take a weak, low-level gun and turn it into something usable without spending hours repeating full missions. After testing different builds, this is the exact method I use now whenever I want to power-level a weapon in one go.
How Weapon XP Actually Works
One thing that changes everything is understanding how XP is calculated. Weapon XP is based purely on damage dealt, not on kills. That means it does not matter how many enemies you finish off. What matters is how much damage your gun keeps putting out.
Hero XP bonuses, region bonuses, difficulty bonuses, and modifiers do not affect weapon XP at all. Once I learned this, I stopped rushing missions and started focusing on setting up long, controlled fights instead.
The One Requirement Before You Start
Your weapon must be at least Level 3. This is important because Level 3 unlocks the first Joker slot. Without that slot, this entire method does not work.
As soon as my weapon hits Level 3, I stop playing it normally and switch to the leveling setup.
The Joker That Makes Everything Work
Equip the Camper Joker on the weapon you want to level.
With Camper active, your weapon does not consume bullets as long as you are standing still. This single joker turns your gun into an infinite firing machine, which is exactly what you need for damage-based XP farming.
To stay alive longer, I also grab healing upgrades and the Joker Dealer from the Hero Store, since it increases your max HP for every active joker you have.
My Go-To Survival Setup
I usually choose between these two depending on how comfortable I feel:
- Energetic Bottle when I want extra survivability
- Ammo Pack if I still feel like bullets are a problem
For spells, I always stick to the Voodoo line because it keeps me alive while I am standing still and farming:
- Drain constantly steals health from enemies and gives it to me
- Corruption can turn cryptic enemies into temporary allies if things get hectic
- Ritual gives steady regeneration, similar to Energetic Bottle
This setup lets me stay in one spot far longer than you would expect.
Where and How to Farm
I select the mission that allows the weapon I want to level and choose Hard difficulty. For me, this is the perfect balance between enemy density and survivability.
I play through the mission normally until I reach the extraction point. I ring the bell, but I do not board the train.
At this moment, enemies start spawning endlessly.
The Infinite Leveling Loop
I plant my character in a safe spot, make sure Camper is active, and then I just start firing nonstop into the enemy waves. Every single hit gives my weapon XP.
With this loop, I have taken low-level guns into the high 40s in about half an hour. Compared to normal gameplay, this feels unbelievably fast.
Sidearms Level Even Faster
Sidearms gain more XP per point of damage than main weapons:
- Main weapons: 0.387 XP per damage
- Sidearms: 0.578 XP per damage
That extra gain means sidearms naturally level about one-third faster using the same method.
This is the exact process I follow whenever I unlock a new weapon. It keeps my runs controlled, efficient, and surprisingly relaxed, and it turns weapon leveling from a slow grind into something you can finish in a single focused session.
