The Forge Pickaxe Guide – Mining Tools, Stats, and Tier List

Pickaxes are the backbone of ore farming in The Forge, dictating: how fast you break rocks, which rocks you can mine, which ores you have a chance to obtain, and how efficiently you farm gold and crafting materials

Every player starts with the Stone Pickaxe, but as you progress, upgrading your mining tool becomes one of the biggest power spikes in the game—especially once you reach high-luck and high-power pickaxes.

Below is the complete breakdown of every pickaxe, including stats, rune capacity, personal impressions, and a mining tier list.

Pickaxe Stats

Mine Power

This is your rock-breaking strength.
Higher Mine Power = faster clears + the ability to break tougher rock types.

Luck Boost

Additional mining luck that stacks with race bonuses and runes.
Higher Luck = higher chance to roll rare ores.

Rune Slots

Determines how many mining runes you can socket.
More slots = more luck stacking, speed boosts, and specialized mining builds.

Pickaxe List (All Tools Explained)

Stone Pickaxe

Mine Power: 4
Luck Boost: +0%
Rune Slots: 0
Cost: Free

Location: Automatically given to all new players.

A tutorial pickaxe—usable for the first few minutes, then outclassed immediately. Only good for Pebbles and early Rocks.

Bronze Pickaxe

Mine Power: 7
Luck Boost: +0%
Rune Slots: 0
Cost: $150

Location: Miner Fred’s Shop (Stonewake’s Cross)

A quick early upgrade. Breaks rocks faster and feels noticeably smoother during early progression, but luck is still absent.

Iron Pickaxe

Mine Power: 10
Luck Boost: +5%
Rune Slots: 0
Cost: $500

Location: Miner Fred’s Shop

The first pickaxe that feels professional. You break rocks reliably, and the small luck boost starts showing slightly better ore variety. Great balance for new players.

Golden Pickaxe

Mine Power: 16
Luck Boost: +15%
Rune Slots: 1
Cost: $1500

Location: Miner Fred’s Shop

Personal Notes:
Golden Pickaxe is a massive step up in efficiency.
The +15% luck boost is the real value—this is usually the first time you start seeing rare ores at a reasonable rate.
The single rune slot lets you grow into your mining build.

Stonewake’s Pickaxe

Mine Power: 33
Luck Boost: +10%
Rune Slots: 1
Cost: $3333

Location: Found in the Inner Cave (center of the cave)

Personal Notes:
This pickaxe feels like a milestone.
The Mine Power more than doubles Golden’s, allowing you to crack boulders with ease.
The lower luck boost makes it more “brute force” oriented, ideal for farming huge rock clusters quickly.

Platinum Pickaxe

Mine Power: 24
Luck Boost: +25%
Rune Slots: 2
Cost: $4400

Location: Miner Fred’s Shop

Personal Notes:
Often considered the best early-mid game pickaxe.
The +25% luck is incredible, and the 2 rune slots allow specialized mining setups.
Its Mine Power is lower than Stonewake’s, but its efficiency with runes compensates heavily.

Platinum Pickaxe is the sweet spot between power, speed, and ore output.

Arcane Pickaxe

Mine Power: 75
Luck Boost: +100%
Rune Slots: 3
Cost: $125,000

Location: Fallen Angel’s Cave

Personal Notes:
The undisputed king of mining.
If you want rare ores—this is it.
The Arcane Pickaxe doubles your luck, has triple rune capacity, and slices through rocks as if they’re cardboard. The price is steep, but the return value makes it the most important endgame purchase for any dedicated miner.

Pickaxe Tier List (Overall Mining Efficiency)

This tier list is a combination of power, luck, rune capacity, and progression impact.

S Tier

Arcane Pickaxe – Unmatched luck, power, and rune slots.
Platinum Pickaxe – Best mid-game tool and insanely cost-efficient.

A Tier

Stonewake’s Pickaxe – Great Mine Power for its cost.
Golden Pickaxe – Strong luck boost and first rune slot.

B Tier

Iron Pickaxe – Solid transition pickaxe.
Bronze Pickaxe – Affordable stepping stone.

C Tier

Stone Pickaxe – For beginners only.

Recommended Pickaxe Progression Path

A clean, efficient progression that most players should follow:

  1. Stone Pickaxe → Bronze Pickaxe
  2. Bronze → Iron Pickaxe
  3. Iron → Golden Pickaxe
  4. Golden → Platinum Pickaxe
  5. Optional: Platinum → Stonewake’s Pickaxe (for heavy rock clusters)
  6. Final Goal: Arcane Pickaxe

This path balances cost, efficiency, and mining success rate.

Pickaxes matter as much as weapons in The Forge. A good pickaxe accelerates everything—gold, gear progression, ore rarity, and crafting power. Once you reach the Arcane Pickaxe, your ability to farm high-tier ores skyrockets and completely changes the pace of the game.
