Escape Simulator 2 Walkthrough Guide
The Courtyard
Your first escape takes place in the Courtyard outside Dracula’s Castle. The main goal here is to unlock the heavy front gate by collecting four Moon Keys. Each key is tied to a different puzzle around the courtyard, so take your time exploring and learning how objects work. This room is meant to teach core mechanics while still offering clever tricks that set the tone for the rest of the game.
Start by examining the angel statue to your right. Check its outstretched hand to pick up your first item. Small, easy-to-miss objects like this set the expectation that thorough searching is essential.
Move to the carriage on the left side of the courtyard. A leather bag rests on it. Open the bag and look inside to collect the English–Latin Dictionary. Try opening the carriage door and you’ll find that it’s locked. On the front panel, four sliding pendants form the locking mechanism, but you won’t yet know the correct positions.
Circle to the opposite side of the carriage and wipe the dusty rear window to clear it. Through the glass, you’ll see blinds arranged in a specific configuration. This layout is the solution to the pendant lock. Return to the front panel and match the positions exactly. The carriage opens.
Inside the carriage, take the Key and Bottle, and lift the hat to reveal a hidden item. Use the key on the locked chest attached to the rear of the carriage. The chest requires three specific items to open. The Bottle counts as the first; the remaining two you’ll earn from solving other courtyard puzzles.
Walk to the stone wall featuring three wolf carvings. Beneath it, slide the loose ground tiles aside to uncover a hidden object. Check the nearby workbench and read the note placed there. It refers to two flames dancing in the tower that “reveal a message.” Stand near the well and look up toward the tower to watch the flames move. Their changing positions correspond to letters. Observe the full sequence and enter the resulting word into the nearby letter lock. This grants you the Stake, a second item needed for the carriage chest.
Continue exploring and locate the hammer near the left-side workbench area. Return to the carriage chest, place the Stake and Hammer inside, and collect the Mirror that becomes available. Inspect the mirror closely and interact with the handprint to reveal a special top-down overlay of the courtyard. Follow each golden trail to locate four distinct symbols, paying attention to where each one appears.
Exit the overlay and interact with the four viewing slots on the well. Rotate each slot so the symbol matches the one associated with that direction and angle. When the four are aligned, the well unlocks. Use the English–Latin Dictionary to answer the Latin riddles correctly. Completing them rewards you with your first Moon Key.
Return to the wolf mural. Each wolf is holding a statement. Using logic, determine which statements are true and which are false. Nearby, a word lock marked “Veritas” and “Mendacium” lets you assign truth or lie to each wolf. Set the positions accordingly to open the cabinet and gain your second Moon Key.
On the left side of the courtyard, find a small chest with three distinct symbols. On a brick wall nearby, the same symbols appear alongside Roman numerals. Match the symbols to their numerals, then return to the chest and set the sliders to the corresponding values. Opening it gives you two Mechanical Keys.
Place these keys into the slots beneath the angel and gargoyle statues near the main gate. Rotate each key until it locks. Collect the items that emerge: two small figurines and a key. Use that key to unlock the fenced-off area near the wolf mural.
Inside, place the figurines on the stone table according to the statement inscribed. The goal is to arrange the pieces so the statement becomes true. When you succeed, the table opens and reveals your third Moon Key.
Finally, retrieve the Shovel leaning near the Roman numeral wall. If you haven’t already, read the note referencing blue flame lanterns. Observe the lanterns hanging from the courtyard tree. The trick is to align your viewpoint so the three blue flames visually merge. Stand where they form a single line, then dig at that exact spot. Repeat this process at the two other alignment locations to recover a buried chest and a special key designed for it. Inspect the key to adjust its inner mechanism, then use it to open the chest and claim your fourth Moon Key.
Return to the main gate. The four Moon Keys only fit when placed in their correct slots. Rotate and reposition each until all lay flat and lock into place. Once the mechanism accepts them, the gate opens. You can advance immediately or take a moment to sweep for missing collectibles.
Courtyard: Collectibles (8/8)
A quick reference to ensure nothing is missed before leaving the area:
• Check the angel statue’s hand near the starting point.
• Inspect around the brazier on the far side of the carriage.
• Search the base of the courtyard’s central tree among the leaves.
• Inside the carriage, lift the hat to reveal a hidden collectible.
• In the gated figurine-table area, check the fence corner to the right.
• Near the workbench where the hammer is found, look at the ground beside it.
• Beneath the wolf mural, slide the loose floor tiles to uncover one.
• Near the fireplace corner, move the stacked logs to expose the final collectible.
Sweet Dreams
Your next room places you inside a richly furnished bedroom within Dracula’s Castle. The objective is to unlock the bedroom exit by uncovering the key hidden across three interconnected areas: the bedroom, the balcony, and the bathroom. Like before, eight collectibles are hidden throughout.
Begin by looking into the tall mirror. At the bottom, a message reads “I see through their disguise.” Use the mirror to view the paintings behind you. Characters that do not appear in the reflection indicate vampires. This is your clue for the portrait puzzle. When looking in the mirror, check the top of the frame for a collectible.
Move to each portrait and adjust the slider beneath it to show either human or vampire depending on whether the figure appeared in the reflection. When all sliders are correct, symbols will appear on the vampire portraits. Memorize the shapes and go to the bedside table. Use the symbols to set the combination and retrieve the Balcony Key inside.
Step outside onto the balcony. Several statuette slots are built into the railing, but you’ll need to gather the corresponding figures first. Pick up the journal on the balcony, then inspect the map on the right wall. The journal lists named regions. Place these names at the correct map locations based on their descriptions. Once complete, a statuette becomes accessible.
While still on the balcony, rotate the metal sphere at the railing’s end to reveal a collectible attached behind it. Return indoors and approach the small birdcage on the bedside table. Tilt and rotate the cage so the internal ball travels the track to the lock mechanism at the bottom, opening it and giving you another statuette. In the same table’s top drawer, beneath some clothes, lies a collectible.
At the foot of the bed sits a trunk with a symbol lock. Lie down on the bed to view symbols on the canopy. Match the symbols from the canopy to the positions on the trunk lock, remembering that your perspective is flipped when lying down. Opening the trunk grants a metal plate piece and a statuette. When lying on the bed, check the upper corner for a collectible.
Next, search the vanity. Two metal plate pieces are in the left drawers, while a collectible is in the bottom right. The final metal plate piece requires solving the bookcase puzzle. Remove the blue book, study the mirrored illustrations inside, and match the correct counts to the dial symbols on the bookcase. Once solved, retrieve the remaining metal plates.
Combine all metal plates at the hanging birdcage in the room’s corner. Position each plate in the track so the full image aligns. The cage opens, giving you the final statuette needed for the balcony puzzle. Look up at the nearby hanging lamp for another collectible.
Sweet Dreams
Place all five statuettes on the balcony railing. The goal is to position them so that every square panel on the railing closes. Use the statuettes’ base shapes as a guide to how many panels they obstruct when placed. When set correctly, the vent panel at the center pops open, revealing the Bathroom Key.
Return inside and unlock the bathroom. Collect three important items immediately: the jewelry box on the left, the crank on the stool in front of the bathtub, and the ornate box sitting on the chair near the mirror.
Inspect the small box and attach the crank to its side. Rotate the crank back and forth to open the box fully and retrieve the key inside. Use this key to unlock the jewelry box. Inside, you’ll find a locket and a note. The note gives a set of coded instructions such as +3, -2, +4. Apply these offsets to the letters of the alphabet to decode the message engraved on the back of the locket. The solution spells “Drown Me.”
To drown the locket, the bathtub must be filled, but the levers overhead must be pulled in the correct order first. The handprint marks on the bathroom mirror indicate the sequence using the number of rungs on each lever. Pull them in the correct order to drop the protective grates surrounding the tub.
Below the tub is a pipe-routing puzzle. Each pipe cube has holes indicating input and output paths. Arrange them so water can enter from the valve and flow through correctly to the outlet. Once aligned, a faucet emerges behind the tub. Activate the lever to fill it with water and drop the locket in.
As the tub fills, stand near the faucet and check its base for a collectible. Once filled, the water turns murky. Interact with the tub to submerge your view. You’ll see a vision of the room showing two positions marked for candle stands and one for your standing position.
Return to normal view, collect the candle stands from the bedroom and bathroom, and place them exactly where you saw the glowing marks. When fetching the bedroom candle stand, check the nearby wall for a hidden collectible.
Submerge into the tub vision again and stand on the marked spot behind the tub. The key you need will appear. Retrieve it and unlock the bedroom exit to complete the room, or stay to gather any collectibles you may have missed.

Feast
This room takes place in an ornate dining hall, and the main objective is to retrieve the Master Key that unlocks the exit door. The puzzles here revolve around family lineage, symbols, and antiques, balanced across several interconnected mechanisms. As always, eight collectibles are hidden in the room.
You begin strapped to a dining chair at the table. In front of you is a metal tray with numbered slots and five goblets scattered around the table. Freeing yourself requires placing the goblets into the correct positions. First, pick up the three metal tiles lying near your place setting. A fourth tile rests on the lazy susan to your left. The fifth goblet is inside a metal box, but this box must be solved before you can open it—place the three collected metal tiles into the grooves to form a picture of a key and the box opens.
Examine each goblet closely. Each bears an engraved design that represents a number. Match them to the tray in numerical order. When all five are set correctly, the restraint mechanism releases and you stand up.
Check the back of the head chair near the fireplace to find a collectible. Then crouch beneath the central dining table to spot another hidden collectible taped to the underside. Move to the podium holding a torn note in the right corner of the room. Collect the loose piece and a seal placed near it. You’ll need to find additional note fragments around the room to reconstruct it.
Search the cabinet to the left of the portrait of Vlad. A note piece rests there, along with a seal. Open the bottom cabinet to find another note piece and a key on the opposite side. Continue gathering the remaining note fragments: one near the seal display table and another inside the podium’s lower cabinet. Piecing the fragments together reveals a family lineage chart. You can now collect and store the completed note.
Next, examine the mounted mythical animal heads on the wall. Above the seal display is a red book—collect it and read the numbered sequence on the right page. This tells you the order to pull the chains beneath the animal heads. Follow the order: Ram with wings, Two-headed deer, Lion with antlers, Boar with moose antlers, and Rabbit with antlers. Solving this releases a statuette from the rabbit’s mount.
To your left of the fireplace, on the archway ledge, sits another statuette—grab it. Nearby is an octagonal table locked with a key you collected earlier. Use the key to open it and solve the resource-sharing puzzle inside. Slide the tokens so each region ends with one of each resource type. Completing it yields another statuette.
Now turn to the seal arrangement puzzle. You should have several seals collected along with the torn note fragments and the red book. The goal is to place the seals so they all connect by shared elements on their borders. When placed correctly, lines connect matching features while mismatched edges show an X. Once complete, the final statuette is awarded.
Take all acquired statuettes to the family tree on the far wall. Use the reconstructed family tree note to place each figure according to lineage rules: firstborns share the parent’s name, siblings are arranged left to right by birth order, and figures with death dates are reaper statuettes, while those still alive are shield-bearing knights. Place Vlad at the base and follow the lineage upward. When the arrangement is correct, the hall transforms.
The large platter at the center of the dining table now features a multi-ring symbol puzzle. Rotate the rings to align the full design. Underneath is a depiction of three knights and which weapons they should wield. Collect the available weapons from the chairs and match them to the knights around the room. Correct placement brightens the room and extinguishes the fireplace flame.
Crouch inside the fireplace and examine the painting inside. It should match the six-image arrangement on the chimney’s exterior. If you haven’t yet, check the edge of the mantel for a collectible, and move the logs near the fireplace for another. Return inside the chimney and align the six images exactly as shown on the outer painting. Once matched, a key drops.
Use this key to unlock the chest in the right corner. Before using it, inspect the key to adjust the sliding rungs to match the configuration seen on the DEUS painting above the board game. Once set and inserted, the chest unlocks, granting the Master Key for the exit door. Before leaving, check under the rug at the exit for a collectible, and inspect the wall sconce to the left for the final one.
