If you’re aiming to secure a top spot on the Whiteout Survival Arena leaderboard—or even claim the #1 position—you’ve come to the right place. This Whiteout Survival Arena Guide will break down everything you need to know, from understanding hero classes to optimizing your lineup and gear.
Whiteout Survival Arena Guide
Which heroes do I use? Well let’s break down how they work first.
Hero classes: Each hero falls under 3 classes and a sub-category (Combat or Growth)
– Think “Rock, Paper, Scissors”. Infantry beats Lancers, Lancers beat Marksmen, Marksmen beat Infantry.
• Infantry class does an extra 10% damage to Lancers.
• Lancer class does an extra 10% damage to Marksmen.
• Marksman class does an extra 10% damage to Infantry.
~ Keep this in mind when you set up the placement of your heroes. Depending on the enemies lineup, you may want to make certain adjustments.
– For example, Jessie is a common counter to Natalia, so if I am using Natalia, I’ll make sure to put her on the opposite side of Jessie so that they aren’t attacking eachother at the beginning. I put my Molly on the opposite side of the enemy’s Molly.
Gen 1 Heroes:
- Infantry Heroes: Smith, Eugene, Sergey, Natalia, and Jeronimo.
- Marksman Heroes: Cloris, Bahiti, Gina, and Zinman.
- Lancer Heroes: Charlie, Patrick, Jesse, and Molly.
Quality: Quality refers to the colors of each hero. There are three qualities. In order from strongest to weakest, they are Mythic (Gold), Epic (Purple), and Rare (Blue).
Skills: Exploration skills on the left of your hero are used in exploration and the ARENA.
– “Escorts” refer to the little soldiers that accompany your hero in exploration or in the arena.
– To improve your performance in the arena you will need to level up your arena lineup’s Exploration skills using Exploration manuals. Don’t waste your manuals trying to level up all your heroes, save them to level up the heroes you use in your lineup only.
– Expedition skills on the right of your hero are used on the map. (In and out of the city). This is an arena guide so I’m not going to dive into this side.
Hero Ascension (Stars): Increases the Power, Health, Attack, & Defense of your heroes and absolutely matters in exploration/arena. Focus on ascending your top 3 primarily. You can focus top 5, but I highly recommend putting the majority of the emphasis on your Top 3. (Top Lancer, Marksman, and Infantry)
Especially when it comes to using general shards. Don’t waste them on heroes you don’t use as your mains.
*When the next generations of heroes are released, your top 3 will likely change.*
When it come to upgrading your heroes with XP, it’s the same thing. Heavy focus on your top 3/5 heroes.
Lineups: Two popular lineups during Gen1 are:
- F2P: Sergey, Jessie, Bahiti, Molly, Gina
- P2W: Jeronimo, Natalia, Molly, Bahiti, Zinman
Personally, I like to use Natalia, Molly, Sergey (or Jessie), Gina, and Bahiti during Gen1. I don’t recommend investing in Zinman as he falls off pretty early.
Gear: Focus on getting complete sets of Mythic Hero Gear for your top 3 heroes first. Upgrade this gear consistently. When your mythic gear is leveled up to +20, you will be able to use mastery forging on it and use your essence stones to upgrade your mythic gear.
In the Arena store, every week you can purchase a custom piece of mythic gear for 12,000 Arena Tokens. **THIS IS THE ONLY ITEM YOU SHOULD BUY FROM THE ARENA STORE!** Don’t buy anything else with your arena tokens.
Arena challenges:
You get 5 free a day and you can pay for 5 additional arena challenges using gems.
The 5 extra challenges will cost all together: 2,100 gems. (100 —> 200 —> 400 —> 600 —> 800)
BUY THE BEST EXTRA MATCHES!Each arena season last 7 days so you would spend 14,700 gems on the arena every week.
You are also earning XP, Hero gear, and manuals for every win on top of the rewards you will earn at the end of the week. You are not “wasting” gems on extra matches.
** If you don’t pay for the extra challenges, you will not earn enough points from the free challenges to place at the top of the leaderboard.**
Arena Points Guide:
Arena points are the points you accumulate by successfully defeating an opponent. If you lose a challenge, you don’t lose points. However, if someone challenges and defeats you, your points will decrease.
How Do Points Work?
- At the start of the week/season, everyone begins with 1,000 points.
- You will earn either +10, +11, or +12 points for defeating someone with equal or higher arena points. The power of the opponent doesn’t matter—only their points determine how many you’ll earn.
- The lower your opponent’s points are compared to yours, the fewer points you will earn for defeating them.
- At the beginning of the week, nobody can challenge you until you’ve played your matches. Once you’ve started competing, you’ll enter the pool of potential challengers.
- The higher your points, the more likely you are to appear as a potential target for others.
This is why it’s important to wait until at least an hour before reset to do your Arena challenges. - If you complete your matches right after reset, you’ll be challenged for 24 hours, potentially losing a lot of points.
- Many players wait until the last hour before entering the rotation, so your best bet is to wait until the last 20–30 minutes before reset. If your server is aggressive with last-minute challenges, you may want to delay until the final few minutes. Personally, I complete my challenges within the last 2–10 minutes for the best chance of keeping my points.
How to Choose Your Opponent:
- Do NOT challenge your own alliance! Arena rewards are valuable, and if you don’t earn them, another alliance will. If your alliance dominates the leaderboard, that’s beneficial. Avoid challenging your own members—refresh if necessary.
- Consider four factors when selecting an opponent:
- Your Power
- Their Power
- Your Points
- Their Points
- If your power is greater, you’re likely to win—making them a potential target. To earn the most points, your opponent should have equal or higher points than you. Always choose the challenger with the most points if you can defeat them. If the options aren’t favorable, refresh.
- Pay attention to their defensive lineup. Adjust your formation if needed. Experiment with your lineup in exploration to understand hero interactions in battle. Even if a level in exploration seems unbeatable, changing your heroes or formation can allow you to defeat enemies much stronger than your team.
Speed Matches:
Speed Matches are an aggressive tactic used to complete 5–10 matches in the last 3 minutes before reset.
- Enter a match, pause, and click Retreat to instantly complete the battle.
How Do I Win?
- Power + Gear + Strategy
- Choose good fights.
- Remember the rock, paper, scissors mechanic (Infantry > Lancer > Marksman).
- Complete all your challenges daily.
- Wait until right before reset to do Speed Matches.
- Review battle history—if someone defeated you earlier in the week and you’ve since grown stronger, challenge them back and reclaim some points.
