Megabonk doesn’t do a lot of handholding, so if you’ve just hopped in and found yourself wondering what stats really mean or why a “Shrine of Succ” is so important, you’re not alone. This Megabonk Beginner Guide wiki walks through the basics — from stats and gear to interactables — so you can start bonking your way to stronger runs
Megabonk Beginner Guide Wiki – Stats, Characters, Weapons & Shrines
Stats
Stats are the backbone of your build in Megabonk. Each one influences how you survive, deal damage, or gain resources. Here’s what each does:
Max HP – The total damage you can take before your run ends. Pretty straightforward.
HP Regen – Determines how quickly your health naturally refills. The higher this is, the faster you’ll bounce back between fights.
Overheal – Currently unclear. It seems tied to whether you can heal beyond your Max HP, but testing is ongoing.
Shield – Functions as a second health bar. Shields regenerate quickly if you avoid taking damage for a short time. They block all incoming attacks until depleted, though high-damage hits can overwhelm them.
Armor – Flat damage reduction. It’s not confirmed if it caps at 100% or scales infinitely, but stacking it noticeably helps.
Evasion – A chance to completely avoid incoming damage. Again, no known cap, but building this makes you much harder to pin down.
Lifesteal – Restores health when you land successful hits. By default, each hit gives 1 HP, and scaling lifesteal boosts this further. Great for sustain-heavy builds.
Thorns – Deals damage back to enemies whenever they hit you. The more thorns, the more enemies regret touching you.
Luck – Increases the odds of finding higher-tier items and upgrades. It’s the stat that keeps runs exciting by influencing drops.
Characters
Megabonk features a roster of characters, each with their own quirks, strengths, and weaknesses. While the game doesn’t yet spell out exact stat spreads for everyone, expect different starting weapons, mobility, and scaling paths that can dramatically change how you play.
Tip: Experiment with multiple characters early on to figure out which one matches your preferred style — tanky bruisers benefit from Armor and Lifesteal, while agile fighters get more value out of Evasion and Luck.
Weapons
Weapons in Megabonk define your approach to combat. Some excel at wide sweeps for crowd control, while others focus on precise, heavy hits. Pairing weapons with the right tomes (see below) or shrine effects can completely transform how they feel.
Tip: Don’t tunnel-vision on rarity alone. Even a “basic” weapon can carry you if its mechanics sync with your chosen build.
Tomes
Tomes are powerful passive enhancers that add flavor to your run. For example, the Lifesteal Tome boosts sustain-heavy builds, while others may increase raw damage, speed, or defensive layering. Stacking compatible tomes is how strong builds snowball.
The Shop
Throughout your runs, you’ll encounter vendors selling items and weapons. Gold is limited, so weigh your purchases carefully: do you need survivability now, or is it worth gambling on a damage spike?
Tip: Don’t forget that Greed Shrines (see below) can pad your wallet at a cost, so keep shop routes in mind when activating them.
Quests
Quests appear during runs and offer side goals that reward you with items, resources, or stat boosts. They’re optional, but completing them efficiently often provides just enough power to carry you through a tough fight.
Items
Items range from basic health potions to powerful relics that shift how your build plays. Since Luck influences item rarity, stacking it increases your odds of seeing the really game-changing ones.
Interactables – Shrines and Other Structures
Scattered around maps are shrines and interactables. These can swing runs dramatically depending on how and when you use them:
Challenge Shrine – Summons strong enemies. Defeating them can drop valuable loot.
Shrine of Succ – Pulls all XP on the map to you. Use this after clearing large areas so no XP goes to waste.
Boss Curse (Bloody Shrine) – Causes an extra copy of each boss to spawn. Extremely dangerous, but also doubles boss rewards.
Charge Shrine – Fully charging this grants permanent stat boosts. A great long-term investment mid-run.
Greed Shrine – Grants money but increases difficulty by 5%. Risky, but can pay off if you’re confident.
Moai Shrine – Lets you choose between 2–3 items. Offers more control over your build.
Microwave – Allows you to duplicate an item you like by sacrificing another of the same rarity. Strong for amplifying key synergies.
Gold Chest – Free items. Always worth opening.
Shady Guy – Sells you one of 2–3 items. If you can’t afford it immediately, you can come back later, but he disappears after you buy something.
Megabonk is all about learning how stats, items, and shrines weave together to create momentum. The early game can feel chaotic, but once you understand what everything does, you’ll start planning routes, stacking the right bonuses, and turning every run into a potential victory.
