The Fall Market update for Grow A Garden has officially arrived, and with it comes a variety of new content designed to refresh the gameplay experience. While some players have raised concerns about the game’s overall direction and longevity, this seasonal event introduces a wide range of additions, including new pets, gear, seeds, and shop mechanics. Whether you’re returning after a break or still grinding daily, this update has enough depth to warrant your attention.

The State of the Game

Before diving into the event details, it’s worth acknowledging the current state of Grow A Garden. The game’s player numbers have declined significantly, and many long-time fans feel the core gameplay loop has become repetitive. In response, the developer Jendelle has introduced a new event format with the goal of revitalizing interest. The Fall Market is part of that effort. Whether or not it succeeds remains to be seen, but it certainly brings new systems and content to explore.

How the Fall Market Event Works

The Fall Market update centers around a new mechanic called the Fall Bloom Tree. This tree acts as the hub for progression throughout the event. Players must contribute specific plants to grow the tree, similar to how the previous Beantock event worked. With each contribution, you unlock new rewards and increase access to the event’s various shops.

Although this event is labeled as a “new style,” its core structure is largely recycled from previous contribution-based systems. However, the Fall Market brings a fresh seasonal theme and a set of rewards unique to this event.

Shops and Their Functions

There are three main shops available within the Fall Market area:

Fall Festival Seed Shop – This is where players can acquire limited-time seeds such as Canafia and Golden Peach. The Golden Peach appears to be the highest-tier seed, requiring seven total contributions to unlock. Its presence and mechanics strongly resemble the seed shops from the Summer Harvest and Beantock events.

Fall Festival Gear Shop – This shop contains a new lineup of utility and cosmetic items. These include a Firefly Jar, Sky Lantern, Leaf Blower (used for flying with leaves), Candy Corn (which grants 50 XP to pets when fed), and a Fall Sprinkler. The sprinkler temporarily boosts plant growth, mutation chance, and fruit size specifically for fall plants.

Other noteworthy gear includes the Bonfire, which enhances cooking and fall pet effects for a limited time, and the Harvest Basket, which allows for mass pet feeding in a single use. The rarest item, the Golden Acorn, resets a pet back to age one but gives it a random empowered trait. This only applies to pets over age 40, suggesting it’s designed to replace the Mutation Machine with a more efficient reroll mechanic.

Fall Festival Pet Shop – In this shop, players can purchase pets directly or buy Fall Eggs that contain a random pet. Some of these pets have specific fall-themed abilities, while others are cosmetic or experimental in nature.

All Fall Market Pets and Their Abilities

The Fall Market introduces nine new pets—some available directly from the shop and others hatched from Fall Eggs. Below is a breakdown of each pet and their functionality.

Pets from the Shop

  • Red Squirrel: Grants a cooldown reduction (or similar effect) to other squirrel-type pets when their abilities finish.
  • Chipmunk: Currently has no ability listed in the leaked data.
  • Sugar Glider: Occasionally glides between fruits, taking one mutation from each and applying it to the next, creating a chain effect.
  • Space Squirrel: Has an ability called “Space Oddnuty”, although its effect remains unknown.

Pets from the Fall Egg

The Fall Egg can be purchased from the pet shop and contains the following pets:

  • Robin: Decreases player avatar size by 10.18 percent. This is a purely cosmetic effect and has minimal gameplay impact.
  • Badger: Every five minutes, it digs for ten seconds and spreads mud to nearby fruits. Each second during this action has a 10 percent chance to apply the “muddy” mutation. This is likely a low-level multiplier mutation.
  • Grizzly Bear: Roughly every four minutes, it has a 10.37 percent chance to apply the “fall” mutation to a nearby fruit. It also increases player size by 8.37 percent, which may stack or scale with pet age.
  • Barn Owl: Increases the weight of pets purchased directly from shops by a random amount between 0.1 to 0.24 kg. It also grants fall pets an extra 0.78 XP per second. These boosts scale with age.
  • Swan: This is the new divine 1 percent drop-rate pet. Every 12 minutes and 43 seconds, it triggers a 15-second aura that gives all nearby pets +20 XP and 1.5 percent hunger restored per second. Additionally, it performs a second ability every 15 minutes where it applies a “graceful” mutation to a random fruit. Despite being the rarest pet, its abilities are underwhelming compared to other divine pets from earlier events.

Seed Additions and Currency Requirements

The seed shop introduces limited-time plant types including:

  • Canafia – Early-game or mid-tier utility.
  • Golden Peach – High-tier seed requiring seven total contributions to unlock. It is expected to have better growth yield or mutation potential.

These seeds, like in past events, are locked behind the contribution system, meaning you must actively donate and grow the Fall Bloom Tree multiple times to access everything.

Gears and Their Strategic Use

The gear available during the event offers both practical farming boosts and passive benefits. Some items, like the Harvest Basket, make it easier to AFK while keeping pets fed, while others like the Fall Sprinkler temporarily increase your productivity during bursts of active play.

The Golden Acorn is especially notable as a tool for quickly refreshing and rerolling older pets beyond age 40 without needing to engage with the Mutation Machine. This makes it highly valuable for progression-focused players, though its 12-contribution cost makes it a late-event goal.

While the Fall Market update introduces a lot of content, its underlying mechanics are heavily borrowed from previous events such as the Beantock and Summer Harvest. The visual theme and pet designs offer a refreshing twist, but the lack of entirely new gameplay systems may leave some players wanting more.
