Xeno Pets, also called S Pets, are one of the biggest features added to Survivor.io. They’re not only powerful companions but also bring unique skills and stat boosts to your runs. If you’re wondering how to unlock them, how to use them properly, and which ones are worth investing in, this Survivor.io Xeno Pets guide will cover everything step by step.
Survivor.io Xeno Pets Guide – Awakening, Best Pets List
How to Unlock Xeno Pets
You can’t dive straight into Xeno Pets. First, you need to awaken at least four normal pets to five yellow stars. For example, Shelly, America, and Croaki are good options, and Rex works too once you push it further.
This requirement might take some time because you’ll need Awakening Crystals, which are obtained from events and the Universal Exchange. A key tip here: don’t trade away all your pet cookies for awakening crystals. You’ll still need a lot of cookies to level up your future Xeno Pets, so balance carefully.
Important note: There’s currently a small bug where even if you meet the requirement, the Xeno Pet feature might stay locked. If that happens, just reset the game and it should fix itself.
How to Get Xeno Pets
Once unlocked, you’ll use gems and Xeno Pet Crystals to pull them from the Xeno Pet chest. These chests also contain toys, awakening crystals, and cookies.
- How to get Xeno Pet Crystals:
- By dismissing pets (both normal and Xeno).
- Dismissing a Xeno Pet gives 280 crystals and refunds 50% of the cookies you used to level it up.
- Normal pets provide much less (e.g., 5 from gray, 15 from green, 50 from blue, 160 from excellent, 1,280 from epic, and 7,760 from legendary).
Current Xeno Pets Available
Right now, there are three Xeno Pets in the game:
- Cappy – Feels like a hybrid; mixes supportive and offensive roles. Some players compare it to Tsukuyomi.
- Clucker – Functions more like an additional damage-dealing skill. Think of it as an offensive boost, similar to America.
- Puffo – Doesn’t attack much but shines as a support, boosting your performance indirectly. Some players have seen better Ender’s Echo scores using Puffo than with their normal pets.
Cappy may be time-limited, though this isn’t confirmed yet.
How to Use Xeno Pets in Battle
Once you’ve equipped a Xeno Pet, make sure you’re actually on the Xeno Pet tab (not the normal pet page) before starting your run.
When in battle, you’ll notice a new button on the bottom left of the screen. This activates the Xeno Pet’s skill, which can sometimes even evolve a normal skill. For example, Cappy transforms his sword arrays from blue to red when upgraded. Timing these activations properly can make a big difference in performance.
Assist Skills – The Hidden Power
Every Xeno Pet comes with Assist Skills (AS) unlocked at level 1, 30, 60, and 90. These are random and can dramatically change how good a pet is.
Examples include:
- Resonance Damage – boosts your overall damage.
- Final Attack or Frost – situational but useful in certain builds.
You can manage this system with:
- Assist Filters: Lock out two skills you don’t want before rolling for a new one.
- Reforge: Lets you increase or decrease stats, though you’re limited to five reforges per day.
Awakening and Resetting
- To awaken Xeno Pets, you’ll need Awakening Crystals and Xeno Pet Cores.
- You can get Xeno Pet Cores from Core Choice Chests and possibly more sources in the future.
- If you want to reset a Xeno Pet, you can un-awaken it to get back the cores and crystals, but you’ll only get half of your cookies refunded if you dismiss it.
Which Xeno Pet Is the Best?
Right now, there isn’t a definitive “best” Xeno Pet. The community is still experimenting, but here’s the general consensus so far:
- Clucker – Great for raw damage.
- Puffo – Strong in support and buff-focused modes like Ender’s Echo.
- Cappy – Balanced and versatile, good if you want both damage and support in one pet.
It really comes down to your build, your stats, and the assist skills you roll.
Don’t rush and waste cookies — these are the most precious resource for pets.
- Always check your assist skills; sometimes a “weaker” pet with great skills can outperform a strong one with bad rolls.
- Try all three Xeno Pets in different modes. Puffo may surprise you in boss fights, while Clucker will shine in high-wave farming runs.
Xeno Pets bring a whole new layer of strategy to Survivor.io. They’re not just about damage — they’re about synergy, assist skills, and resource management. If you invest wisely and adapt to your needs, they’ll become a core part of your progress in late-game content.
