GHOUL RE Kura Update Guide – Half-Human Spec, One-Eyed

1. Kura – Mythical Quinx Weapon

The highlight of this update is the addition of Kura, a Mythical Quinx weapon. However, don’t let the “mythical” tag fool you. According to the creator of the video, it looks more like “two sticks with metal slabs” than an epic item. Still, it offers a new combat experience for Quinx users.

While the design might be underwhelming for some, the key is its potential synergy with new specs like Half-Human. We’ll talk about that next.

2. Half-Human Spec – New Questline & Abilities

A brand-new Half-Human questline has been added, allowing players to unlock a new spec with unique abilities. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Buffed HP & Regen: Half-Human increases your health cap and regen rate.
  • Progression Required: You’ll need to complete a dedicated questline to unlock it.
  • No Arata Compatibility: If you already have Arata, do not grind for Half-Human on the same slot. They cancel each other out and make regen abilities useless.

🔥 Tip: It’s recommended to use Half-Human with Quinx rather than Arata to fully benefit from the regen buffs.

3. One-Eyed Spec & Progression

Another new feature is the One-Eyed progression line, with its own set of unlocks. While not much detail is shared about the specific abilities, it’s described as giving “uncapped regen” or buffed regen with increased cap, depending on the path.

One-Eyed is not going to be a standard spec — it’s powerful, but not something everyone will get easily.

4. Quinx Is Obtainable Again

After being unobtainable in the last patch, Quinx is now back in the game. This fix alone is a big win for returning players who were stuck in limbo.

  • Rebalanced Moveset: Expect a few tweaks and improvements.
  • New Showcase Moves: Includes a barrage and a wind-up move (though the wind-up is currently too slow and needs a buff).

The devs need to add hyper armor to Quinx’s wind-up abilities — they’re nearly impossible to land in PvP as-is.

5. Improved Quest Hints & Guidance

This update also made significant QoL improvements:

  • More hints added to key questlines: Joker, Arata, Kakaja, Quinx, Half-Human.
  • Makes spec progression less confusing and more beginner-friendly.

Players had requested better quest clarity for a while now, and this patch finally delivers.

Bug Fixes and Small Changes

Nio v1 Rework

Though not detailed in the video, the update includes a Nio v1 rework, which might affect damage scaling, abilities, or cooldowns. If you’re using Nio, now’s the time to check how it feels post-patch.

Ranked Still Bugged

Unfortunately, Ranked mode is still broken. When you load in, it’s just a black screen — no combat, no UI. This bug seems persistent and ruins any chance of fair PvP until it’s fixed.

Player Count & Concerns

The player count has been dropping by 5K weekly, now sitting at around 10K at the time of the update. This trend is worrying, and unless more exciting content rolls out soon, GHOUL://RE might continue to lose its core player base.

Gameplay Showcase – Thoughts & Reactions

Here’s a quick summary from the video’s live gameplay:

  • Kura (Mythical Quinx): Visually underwhelming, performance-wise OK.
  • Quinx Moveset: Needs a buff to wind-up speeds and hyper armor to be viable.
  • Half-Human Activation: Adds a unique visual effect with a draining bar. Can only be used once every 10 minutes and replaces 2 of your main moves.
  • Kakuja Bar & Regen Buffs: Adds survivability but at a trade-off.
  • Performance Issues: Game suffers from severe lag, buggy cutscenes, and crashing ranked mode — still very unpolished.

Important Warnings

  • Half-Human & Arata = Bad Combo
Using both cancels out regen. You’ll lose your healing, so pick one or the other.
  • Mode Cooldown: Half-Human mode has a 10-minute cooldown, which makes it less viable in fast-paced PvP unless used strategically.
  • Move Replacements: If your Z move is a key part of your combat, think twice before activating specs that overwrite it.

This update is not game-changing, but it does address key issues and brings back Quinx, which many players were waiting for. The addition of Half-Human and new questlines adds content for grinders, and the added quest hints improve the experience for everyone.
